Orlando seems logical because he is from there. But they have Cole Anthony Markelle Fultz and Jalen Suggs So maybe SA But yes we will match
I thought that if Anfernee was going to miss the rest of the season, it would likely be because his agent and the front office already have the framework for a new contract at a number that worked for both sides. Otherwise, it probably would’ve made sense for him to come back and try an earn a bigger payday. I would match if he was offered something though.
We're gonna give him what he wants on Day 1. Luring RFAs is so cumbersome and no team wants to tie up FA money for two days. And everyone knows we're gonna match any offer, so there's no point.
It all depends on the money we're talking about. He's our 6th man, right? How much money do we throw at a bench position when we have other needs in the starting lineup? Sign and trade.
I don't think anybody makes a big offer to Simons. All the teams that could do so appear to be set at guard, and that includes the Spurs and the Magic. It's not like Simons has looked like a prospect like Morant or Edwards. He hasn't even proved as much as Poole. He has value but one of the unspoken aspects of those trades the Blazers did that so many hate, along with the tank, is that it clearly demonstrates to the rest of the league the Blazers would match any offer for Simons. I doubt teams would waste their time and I doubt any teams would be so worried about the Blazers they'd try to screw them with a toxic offer to Simons of course, all it takes is one
No. The Blazers traded CJ and Norm to give the keys to Ant. He will start next to Dame with Hart likely coming off the bench.
they are at 86M. Add 8-10M for their draft pick and it's 95M. Then add Bagley's 28M cap-hold and they are over the salary cap. Say Bagley quickly signs for 18M...they have 9M in space they also have Cade Cunningham, Killian Hayes, Hamadou Diallo, and Cory Joseph at guard, and three of those on rookie deals. So they aren't desperate for a guard. I don't think they are a big threat. Ironically, if the Blazers trade for Grant using their TPE, it might open enough space for the Pistons if they wanted to make an offer for Simons.
Most teams are loaded at guard. I think they use Cade & Hayes as pg's, Diallo's a sg but maybe not scorer that Ant could be. Some team out there could see Ant as a soon to be prolific scorer. You may be right probably no one will make a big offer.
I think that when Ant and Nurk sat out the rest of the season as upcoming free agents that Cronin had already reached their deals with them. So I expect both of their deals to be announced on the first day of the moratorium. The only way we won't hear what Ant's deal is, is if we have cleared out some cap space and are using it because his hold is going to be less than his actual salary next year, so waiting to sign him would create cap space. I don't think we'll be dealing with cap space so again, I am planning on both deals for Ant and Nurk being announced the first day they can be.
If the Blazers were smart Ant would be 6th man, but they’re not, so we are going to keep on trucking with a shitty defensive backcourt.
I would think Nurk is more likely to go than Simons. I have to admit I am ambivalent about him leaving.
