Average looking QBs don't go in the top 10 picks. For sure Mario really likes the run game, but Oregon didn't have very good WRs during Justin's Duck era which only reinforced their offensive philosophy. I would have loved to see him have targets like the Ducks feature now. STOMP
or targets like the Chargers have here's an interesting set of stats: * in Hebert's senior season, he averaged more passes that Mariotta did his Heisman season. * in Hebert's senior season, him passing was a bigger percentage of the Duck offense than Mariotta passing was in his Heisman season * in Herbert's junior and senior seasons, Oregon led the nation in dropped passes. Well over 50 drops his junior season in 4 seasons, Herbert had 3 different head coaches, 3 different OC's, and 3 different offenses. He had the weakest group of receivers that any Duck QB had had a for a couple of decades. They just couldn't consistently gain separation. there were probably some schematic things that the Ducks could have done a little better. But you can't have a good passing game without an established system and good receivers and Oregon didn't have either
Pac-12 men's & women's track & field championships in Eugene this weekend, starting today. Oregon men have won 14 conference championships in a row and 16 of the last 18. In a tough race with USC this weekend though Oregon women had won 9 straight from 2009-2017, but USC won the last 3. Oegon women are favored
yeah...not good conditions at all this has been the worst April/May weather in the Valley I can remember. Eastern Oregon hasn't been much better either
But, after the awful fires, where the sky looked like Mars, and the air was filled with choking smoke, i'll take this any day. I never want to see that again.
maybe not, but those two dry springs & dry winters didn't help leading up to those fires. Other than that 100 year snow storm in Eugene, it hardly rained. This rain Will help. .
My concern with the rain is it is going to make all the grasses and such grow tall. Once they die from the summer heat, it is good fuel for the fires.
Colorado is so tinder dry, there were wildfires in the winter . I was still living there. The firestorm that blew through Superior & Louisville and took out a 1000 structures , including million dollar homes, and a hotel, happened because of the lack of consistent moisture the past half decade. I don't want flooding, but we need the moisture.
https://www.cbssports.com/college-f...lummet-among-power-five-coaches-ranked-65-26/ I don't know much about the ducks coach, but does it surprise you all to see Jonathan Smith ranked higher?
these are not rankings anymore that if I made a ranking. It's one writer at one website pulling nonsense out of his ass so no, it doesn't surprise me. Lanning's defensive recruits and Lanning's defensive schemes sure seemed to do well last season
MY APOLOGIES, but it looked like it was more than just one dude. Whether they're experts or not, I have no idea. I just hadn't seen any "rankings" like this in that past.
54 Oregon Dan Lanning: Clearly, some of our voters hold Lanning in high esteem, as he's ranked highly for a coach yet to be in charge of a program. It certainly isn't indefensible. After all, Lanning just played a part in Georgia's national title win, coordinating what might've been the best college football defense we've ever seen. He also brings the same kind of recruiting acumen that Mario Cristobal possessed. Lanning seems ready to hit the ground running in Eugene. 2021 rank: n/a
