The kid line played every 2 shifts it seemed. You are reaching really far when you want to put this one on the coach. We pretty much dominated a better team in their building for 2 periods. They came out fired up in the 3rd and took it to us. Not unexpected. We finish any of the many chances we had we win. That is not on the coach.

You telling me this game was worse than losing game 1 at home, with a 2 nothing lead..ok what ever...too many times you kept on song last series this and that...this team has not shown that they couldn't come back after being knocked down..not once...so saying losing off a shitty deflected goal is going to knock this team out...makes you a quitter

Oh well, we'll see what kind of resiliency they have again.

Not a soft goal. It was deflected in front of the goal by lindgren who unfortunately is good at that!

Absolutely worse than game 1 Pens IMO. We were favored in that series, we had home ice in that series, we were the better team coming into that series, the Pens had a ton of injuries, on and on.

This one is way worse against a much better team. This was our chance, with MO from 3 straight wins, to take one there and maybe set the tone for the series, and we blew it late.

Win game 2 and we'll be okay. Lose game 2 and we are not coming back against this team. That simple to me. Nothing done tonight, now we just need to win game 2.

Missed chances and trying like hell to hang on to win 1-0 spelled doom. There's not much more to say then that.

In hockey when you go down 2 games you are really playing with fire I think. We needed 1 in Carolina. Tonight was a golden chance. Can we do it again in game 2, and this time hold on. We'll see.

We can play with this team as they proved tonight. Just have to convert some of the great scoring chances we had throughout the game. Panerin needs to get his head out of his ass and stop turning the puck over in the defensive zone with his dopey blind passes. Defensively, I thought this was one of our best games but you have to put the puck in the net also! Keep the faith. We’re not in trouble until we lose a game at home.

Agree with everything you wrote mel except the last line. I don't buy that in hockey. I am much more about you aren't in trouble until you fall behind by 2 games. Look at NHL series, a very high % are tied 1-1 just for that reason IMO. The team down 1-0 knows going down 2-0 is so difficult to come back from.

They can't make Raanta look like Patrick Roy.

Agreed - and they need to shoot high more also. The Chytil save, other pad saves, go up top against this guy. And f'ing Kakko needs to shoot on a breakaway, and put a puck into a wide open net.

They played fairly well defensively except for the tying goal but you can't let them own the whole 3rd period in a playoff game.

I'd say a missed opportunity. If they were up 2-0 or 3-0 I'd say they blew it. This one you were just praying they could hold on and win 1-0.

Everyone blows games in the playoffs. The issue is the vets don't show up for half the games.

This was a pretty evenly matched game for the most part (outside of puck possession time and face-offs) No one on the Canes stood out in my eyes so get on the Rangers all you want, but they did a very good job keeping the Canes players quiet too. Kakko missing the empty net was the difference, end of story. He puts that in and the game is essentially over.
Gallant will have them ready for Friday night.

I wonder if Stromes play is related to him seeing the writing on the wall about coming back to the Rangers.
