The people in here talking about moving ~300lb Jusuf Nurkic to the 4 spot when he might be too big and slow to play at a high level at the 5 in today's NBA have to be joking, right???
Hypothetically is there any financial way to acquire LaVine and Grant if we let Nurk walk? I’m not a big fan of either BUT if we can keep our #7 and can create space or value with Milwaukee 1st, Nurk, Hart, Nas a lineup of… Dame Ant LaVine Grant Duren would excite me, bench would suck though. Just a question so let’s chill on any overly negative feedback.
No, whichever deal you made first would make the other deal impossible. If we free up cap space and use it, that cap space we use erases the TPE. If we use the TPE to get Grant you're not going to be able to free up the cap space to sign LaVine.
Saying he struggles to "play at a high level at the 5..." is a questionable take. Or, maybe you're joking, right? I don't feel Nurk is too slow at all, and I like your Christian Wood idea. They would make an interesting tandem. Ideas dude. Just ideas.....
I'm right there with you. It is laughable thinking about Nurkic guarding 4s. You just don't see the "vision" bro.
Also that Denver tried to play Nurk and Jokic together and it failed horribly. At least that was my understanding.
It's so frustrating to me that it's plain as day that this team should just embrace a full rebuild, but instead we're going to continue with this farce treadmill. Doesn't matter if it's with CJ or without. We don't have the assets to put together a championship team. And Cronin has shown a complete inability to pull off trades that bring back good value.
The answer is no. While I think Jerami Grant would be a really good fit, find another team who just wants to cut salary and is willing to move their vet to do so. IE, Isaac. Also, people need to stop talking about Christian Wood. He's pretty bad on defense and wouldn't get the shots. We need guys who don't need shots to be effective.
This might have some merit. I don't love the cost though. In the Rocket's trade, I'd ask for the Bucks '23 1st rounder to come back. On the Detroit trade, I'd try and keep the Bucks '25 1st & send out Keon Johnson instead (also while swapping picks #46 & #59).
We're reaching for things when we think we're going to get Ayton AND keep Nurk AND play Nurk at the 4. Nurk and Ayton on the court at the same time is a formula for giving up 132 ppg and going 20-62. If people thought we were bad defensively before, I'd hate to read this board after we gave up a zillion uncontested corner 3s every game. I think we're pretty much screwed. The Clippers trade was a salary dump where we didn't get any real assets back. The value of the Pels trade was in the lottery pick we didn't get. Now our lottery pick drops and loses value. And our star player apparently is pushing us to acquire another average guy because he has good vibes with him and really don't have the assets not to overpay for him. Plus, we don't have the resources to go out and get the guys who are on the market who actually could help us. There was more than the fair share of misfortune in the rebuild, but Cronin didn't do a good job of mitigating the effects bad luck could have ... and he gets rewarded for it. The Vulcans don't care. I'm very discouraged. I think this team isn't too far off from a death spiral that's going to make the 04-05 team more watchable in comparison. I don't see any avenues to get better and I think the end of the decline and the attempts to rebuild after that are likely to be really, really ugly.
This organization needs sold ASAP to someone who really loves basketball and wants a competitive team.
One can only hope, trading the 7 for Grant its simply awful and a big time overpay and I don't care what Dame wants (and who really knows). Now moving down to get Char's 13 and 15 (send that for Grant f they wan him - I don't) for the 7 is something I can at least stomach, its alll speculation at any rate
