They tried to play Nurk with Jokic together in Denver and that didn't work. Nurk was pouting about his mins and touches. If he couldn't play with Jokic who is as effective as a big man as anyone in NBA history, I don't think Nurk would want to play out of position. He wants to be Jokic with all the fancy passes, he doesn't want to play with another Jokic. Plus his feeling will probably be hurt being play out of position.
I have the same opinion. It amazes me the fans here that are positive on the direction of this franchise and what Cronin has done. It seems like there are two types of these Blazers fans; #1 the people that hated Neil and or CJ so much they love change for the sake of change regardless of how terrible the change is. The second group is blind Blazer homers that probably celebrate any decision the team would take regardless of how terrible it is. The future of this franchise looks worse than when John Nash was running it. You remove Lillard from this roster and its by far the worst in the NBA. Even with Dame its likely in the bottom 5. I don't understand how any Blazer fans can be optimistic.
It will be interesting to see what happens. All noise is pointing to us ultimately acquiring Grant. I don't see how the Blazers will avoid overpaying, and I don't see why Detroit would ship him out without a real asset in return. They see Dame putting pressure on the organization and will call our bluff. If the Blazers overpay for Grant it will be interesting to read the comments of fans here that change their tune and support the organization. I hope I'm wrong and Cronin becomes the best GM of all time, I just don't believe there is any realistic change he can succeed this year, nor does he have the tools to get this roster to where Dame and he would want it. Neil Olshey made many mistakes, but Cronin has been even worse and now put the franchise in an impossible situation. Cronin also will have to validate his actions from the last trade deadline, so doing nothing this summer if other GM's hold firm isn't an option for him either, it will basically prove he screwed up the deadline. I suspect its more likely he gives up the lottery pick for Grant or other assets and hopes Grant becomes an allstar, hopes Ant is an allstar, hopes everything on the court comes together perfectly. What a sad time to be a rational Blazers fan.
According to Richman Quick seems to be pretty sure we're trading picks for vets and Grant will be here however it transpires...we have Bledsoe's contract, Ingles expiring, young projects like Johnson, Williams and Watford, hard to say what the details will be but seems to me like there's more veteran talent outside the draft and even in the G league than ever before..lot of guys aren't signed for next season...buckle up because it's going to be a month of what if's going into the draft ...I get the idea Grant is a done deal behind closed doors...hopefully for the Bucks number one pick and a couple players like Bledsoe or Johnson
I might rather trade the pick for Ben Simmons who I feel, Brooklyn would trade in a hurry. Maybe we can trade the rights to Duren for Siakam?
Trade Duran (assuming they drafted him) for Siakam? Toronto would laugh, giggle, and then hang up the phone.
Not necessarily. They have a glut of power forwards and are desperate for a center. If Duren impresses enough, you could see him rise or his rights become more valuable.
What do you guys think about these trades I saw suggested on the other sites trade board? Portland —> Atlanta: Bledsoe, small contract (Brown) & pick #7 Atlanta —> Portland: Collins & pick #16 Portland —> Detroit: TPE & pick #16 Detroit —> Portland: Grant
So basically, Bledsoe, a contract + #7 for Collins and Grant? Intriguing, would be hard to say no. But I'm not sure if the other teams would be ok with that. Detroit mostly.
How would you know? You embellish half of what you write, and your trade proposal flamed out at a 55-1 score. You jump to all conclusions before anything has been allowed to even work itself out, and will no doubt flip-flop your way through the upcoming season as Cronin's vision could very well play out. "Rational" Blazer fan? Not you.
I think for Detroit is pretty easy/likely they do it, I think ATL would have want someone a good bit at 7 to do it and/or want to get rid of Collins
