Every year, there are contributors (and sometimes even starters or stars) found in the 2nd round.

The Blazers have 2 shots to find a 'diamond in the rough'. I'm interested in who thinks they have identified 'gold' in the 2nd round. You find contributors there, and that can really deepen your bench and provide rest for your starters.

Koloko if he's there at 36 and IF we still need a backup C

Or even undrafted guys like Watford or the guys Miami always finds. I would look for guys who love basketball, are intelligent, very intense and can shoot the ball. Unfortunately CJ Elleby, whom I love, did not have one of those.

I get the feeling that Chauncey like's Elleby. He's mentioned he's a disrupter and energetic. He might feel he can develop a shot?
Wouldnt surprise me to see him on the team next year.

"In his first six months with Overtime Elite, Dominick Barlow has transformed into one of the most dynamic and versatile prospects in the nation. Many draft boards have the 6-foot-9, 214-pound forward projected to be a second round draft pick in the 2022 NBA draft with room to climb higher. He has a uniquely mobile game for his height with uncanny rim protection, skilled footwork in the post and an ever-improving 3-point arsenal."
“He’s one of the hardest workers at OTE,” Gortman said. “He’s all about the grind. He’s not really into other things that don’t concern basketball. He’ll get the job done.”

Shot 58% on twos and 34% on threes, averaged 1.7 steals and 1.8 blocks.

Pat Con was 2nd round 41st pick.
Blazers have picked well in the second round a few times.

Good find. Seems like a great candidate for a late first or early second round flyer who could either surprise or bust.

EJ Liddell. Reminds me a bit of Draymond. Underwhelming physical measurements but a seasoned, productive Big 12 guy who just knows how to play.

I saw Patrick Baldwin had a whopping 23 inch vertical today. Was a 5 star kid who went to play for his dad and had a shit freshman year. Wonder if he could end up falling to us at 36, and maybe you take a chance on talent?

Early in the season (check the draft thread) I thought Eason was the guy that I thought would stay under the radar - he’s now a lock to be a lotto pick.

Mid/late I focus on high skill level - as unathletic as he may be - he’s a high skill/high IQ big.

If Koloko could drop to us in the second round I think Orlando Robinson could as well and I would take him over Koloko.

Elleby might be the next one. I remember people saying Pat will never get a second contract and will be playing baseball again.

HUGE, very athletic, monster wingspan, wants to dunk everything, but outside of that, finishes very poorly. Would love getting him with the later 2nd round pick or as an UDFA.
