I can see the Blazers trading up from 7 to 3 with Houston. Trading Nasir Little to get it done. I like Nas but the guy is always hurt unfortunately. Make the move to get that 3rd pick!

    [Then focus upon acquiring Ayton]

    Dame
    Ant
    Grant
    Banchero
    Ayton

    1. Why would Houston do that?
    2. Banchero will go #1 (mainly because it's Orlando)

feel free to post YOUR ideas! Ideas are more difficult to come by than criticism of “experts” :beatinto:

After Cronin informs Dame that he is unable to get Grant and still have a top 10 pick in this draft Dame privately asks to be traded soon before draft night.

We trade Dame to the Kings for the 4th pick, Fox and two future firsts.

We trade Fox to the Thunder for the 12th and 30th pick.

We trade the 7th to the Spurs for the 9th and 25th.

We trade the 25th and 30th to the Bulls for the 18th.

We trade the 36th and 55th to the Raptors for the 33rd.

We take Sharpe at number 4, we take Sochan at 9, we take Dieng at 12, we take Jovic at 18, we take Orlando Robinson at 25, we take Dalen Terry at 33.

This sets us up to make a max offer to Ayton.

    Ant, Terry

    Sharpe, Nas, Keon

    Dieng, Jovik, Didi

    Sochan, Justise, GB3

    Ayton, Robinson, Trendon

    This is the atomic option.

I think the most likely thing that we'll see is us trading the 7th to Charlotte for the 13th and 15th. We trade 15 and the Bucks 2025 first for Grant. We draft Dieng at 13 if he's still there and if he's gone we take Eason. We take whoever the best C is that's available at 36, I'm hoping it's Orlando Robinson. We take Andrew Nembhard at 55.

We start the season with Dame, Ant, Justise, Grant, Nurk, Hart, Nas, Dieng, Robinson, TPMLE, Trendon, Keon, Didi and Nembhard.

My new prediction is 7 to Houston for Wood and 17 followed by 17, the Bucks 2025 first and Bledsoe to the Pistons for Grant.

That would be Cronin making me eat my words that he didn't have a good plan when making those trades in February that looked really bad when the Pels made the playoffs. I would still want Cronin to lock up Wood, Grant, Hart, Justise and Nas to reasonable extensions this summer and not overpay when re-signing Ant and Nurk but that core of players with Dame leading them would give Dame a chance to win some titles over the next 4 or 5 years that he's still elite.

this is not horrible and quite frankly - realistic

Would you keep Nurkic? Would we be able to keep Hart?

I would keep both. If we opt in on Hart while also signing Nurk and Ant to a combined ~40M then we would end up with a full roster that is 6M into the tax at $111,522,828 in salary and dead money before signing Ant and Nurk and assuming they cost 40M. That could be remedied at the trade deadline... or we could just try to get under it for 2023-24 or even 2024-25 to avoid repeater tax.

That roster is Dame, Ant, Grant, Nurk, Wood, Hart, Nas, Justise, Keon, Didi, Greg, Trendon, the 36th pick and the 57th pick in order of projected salary.

Two first-round picks for Grant? Have we not been crucifying Neil for doing that for RoCo? It seems too much to me.

    # 7 for Wood and 17 is not bad at all. But if we get Wood, I would rather keep #17.

However, if Detroit wants to give us Grant for one of the picks and the TPE, I would not say no.
But I think there will be value at #17, and Grant is not worth 2 first-round picks.

Like I said the starting offer would be the 17th pick for Grant but comparing Grant to RoCo is kind of ridiculous. Look at their pre-Blazers numbers and watch them play. Grant is so far above RoCo offensively and is even better than he's ever been on defense. You're comparing a 3 and D guy to a really well rounded player on CJ's tier of talent, he's not the offensive specialist that CJ is but when looking at both sides of the ball he's on that level. You know a really good two way player, who is athletic and has length... the exact thing everyone in this forum has been whining about not having for forever.

OK, you are making a persuasive argument for Grant. I have never seen that type of offense from him but I really have not seen him play for a while.

My prediction is Murray at 7 and not there trading down with Charlotte 13 & 15 and be selecting Williams at 13 and Eason at 15. If we trade for Grant it won't be on draft night.
