It just depends on how much Duren impresses and if Jabari or Paolo disappoint. Players fall all the time. Also, do those guys fit those teams? I agree on wanting to use the pick. I'm not for drafting Duren. Even if he's a hit, centers take so long to develop. I'd rather use one of our second rounders on a flyer that plays center. It's the least important position. We need to add skill sets we don't currently have. Sochan might be my favorite. I think there's a chance Keegan Murray falls as well. We need length and defense desperately.
Yes, because all-stars are the only players who fit that description, right? Come on, there's no need to be snarky. I don't think that narrow list of criteria is unreasonable as a basis for identifying players to target.
You said two-way players who have size, length speed, and can hit a 3? I think that's the very definition of a wing all-star? Getting one would be amazing, getting two added to our current core while keeping Dame and Ant would vault us into contention IMO.
There are plenty of 3D wings around the league that aren't all stars, but are excellent role players. The Herb Joneses and Cam Johnsons and Saddiq Beys that our prior GM simply failed to see as worth pursuing. Those are the type of players I'm talking about.
I really like Murray but if that's all we do in this off season I think it will only take a four game losing streak for us to lose Dame, which for some wouldn't be a bad thing but without another substantial move that would likely mean us guaranteeing Chicago our 2023 first in order to trade some other future firsts, I don't think we'll be showing the urgency that Dame needs to see. I also think Murray is just out of reach and will likely go sixth.
Some noise on twitter that SAC might leap for Sharpe at 4. Ivey dropping to 5 or lower is wild to me. I think hes a tier 1 prospect in this draft
I’m out on Ivey, I don’t think he will be a piece on a winning team. Would need to get a tall PG like Giddy to make it work. The team would have to be built around him specifically. He can’t just fit in. Not that he has no value and is not good, I just don’t think his skills work with without specific parameters.
what i like most about him is his burst/acceleration. with the increased spacing in the NBA, I think he's gonna get to whatever spot he wants to on the floor. he already lives at the FT line in college, I can just imagine how easily he's going to score in the league, especially with his jumpshot. I think he's gonna be the favorite for ROY depending on where he ends up. sure, he needs the ball in his hands, but that should be expected as a top 5 pick.
Would it be fair to say that he is to Ja Morant as John Wall was to Derek Rose? And while we all love Ja, the awkward fact remains that his team plays better without him.
