Would love to get someone of his talent, although he carries that Duke 'curse' with him. Since we are more than 1 player away, is it worth it to trade our #7 pick + assets to get him, or better to trade the #7 for potentially a player (say Collins) and get an additional asset?
Or it's a 4 team deal. Utah sends Gobert to Atlanta Atlanta sends Collins to Utah and Capella to Toronto Toronto sends Anunoby to Portland Portland sends #7 to Utah Other (smaller salary) players and picks would probably be included, but that's the basic framework.
If Ainge is really running the show, they just might. He seems to really value draft picks and cap relief, which is what this deal gives them.
Yeah... your version has Toronto giving up two wings for Gobert; @Storyteller2's has them keeping Trent and adding Capela instead. That makes a lot more sense for them. Yours also had Atlanta getting smaller and taking Bledsoe's worthless deal; he has them getting Gobert, which I think they'd be much more interested in.
My idea for TOR was also based on a rumor. I dunno if TOR would give up OG for Capela, and Collins doesn't make much sense for them while they're trying to open up space for Barnes/Siakam. Regardless, there is something brewing between these four teams. Too much noise to ignore.
Perhaps... but if they want to compete, having 3 top guys all from the same draft class is a great foundation. I mean, they're certainly not Wade/Lebron/Bosh, but it's a pretty damn solid big 3 (assuming Mitchell is actually good enough to be the best player on a contender).
Collins only makes sense if they think he can play 5 in their lineup. Capela is perfect for them, IMO.
They get rid of Gobert's contract and they get Collins and Number #7? That helps out a division rival way too much IMO. I would be pissed
Steph, Dame Klay, Ant Dray, Nurk Wigs, Little OPJ, Watford Poole, Ingles/Winslow Looney, Greg Brown GP2, Hart If we can somehow acquire two of Collins, OG, Dort, Grant using our picks and trades, upgrading the roster, when healthy, contenders?
I will take the best player in the deal rather than two good players 10 times out of 10. It's why we should have traded for Barkley when we had the chance. The best chance we have is my having the players with the highest ceiling. Even is Paolo doesn't workout, his value on a rookie deal at his age is way more than John Collins + another good player. Could always trade him should a star become disgruntled.
