The roster sucks. There is no chance that they'll be contenders this season no matter what offseason moves are made. They will have to do everything right to be competitive in a couple years & by that time hopefully the BPA guy from today's draft will be starting to hit his stride.

I don't root for the Lillard Trailblazers, I root for the Portland Trailblazers. It's a shame that they wasted so much of Dame's career shifting the furniture about. Its about damn time management started making the best long term decisions.

    Understood.
Im not about criticizing the GM but not having alternative scenarios lined out, showing why the critique holds merit.
Without that, there is no merit in the critique.
It can certainly come off as smug to smash the decision without providing an alternative realistic option.
    Its basically saying this:

    “bad move”
    “Why?”
    “Cause i said so”
    “Why do you say so?”
“Because I said so. I’’m not the gm. Let them answer. I just know it cause i said so.”

That doesn't seem like critical thinking to me. It seems like complaining without an alternative solution.

I apologize if that came off harsh. Im just not a fan of complaining about something without a potential solution in mind.
My father always used to tell me to not come to him with a problem without at least half a solution.
If it cant be fixed or improved, ya make do with what ya got!

I would’ve liked Hayward and Duren on the squad with Sharpe. That would’ve been one hell of a draft night.

We don't what the offers were for the 7th pick. I'm sure Sacramento would have traded the 4th pick if they could have gotten a clearly better return.

The Blazers would have been the big winners in the draft instead of Detroit. I hope having a few more years of Dame makes up for having to pass on possibly getting Duren.

Critical thinking is also not looking at just one side. Critical thinking is looking at the full picture and making the the best assessment. Shouldn’t be just the positive or just the negative.

I don’t really think anyone here has the ability to assess the situation fully like the front office does because we lack the data to make the best decision. Everyone is going based on their appetite for risk.

Personally im more of a risk taker so I applaud the pick. I would also applaud a trade for an allstar using him come free agency, I just don’t see those possibilities. I have more faith in gathering talent with your best assets and using smaller assets to fill the holes.

if shaedon sharpe impresses chauncey billups in the pre-season, hell be part of the rotation, simple as that

coach billups is not like terry stotts, he will actually play young guys if they deserve to play

Dame wouldn't, and we needed to give Dame a win. Grant is his guy. You gotta give him something if we're gonna go for Sharpe.

It's straddling the lane of keeping Dame happy.

We got him his guy in Grant, but we're taking Sharpe so that we're still keeping an eye on the future.

Sharpe can make a Jalen Green kind of impact this year if he impresses early. Is Chauncey coaching Summer League? He needs to be. I want him working with Sharpe even before training camp starts.

This is so untrue. You do not need a solution to say something is not right. How the fuck do I know what's available? My job isn't to provide solutions for the guy who gets paid to provide solutions.

The point was and remains to be: this was not the plan.

This is it. Night and day between the coaches. Chauncey will play him, and then we shall see....

I was being sarcastic about the critical thinking stuff, responding to @Natebishop3, who I adore, but disagree with on this point.

Finally have loyal superstar and you’re mad because the team doesn’t stay loyal to him. Had we drafted Durant that guy would have left the first chance he had

I'm not used to you being optimistic. You're not disappointed at all? Like four years from now when Sharpe is All-NBA or is a bust, I'm not going to be like "I stand corrected" or "told you so," I'll just lament missing a chance at something with Dame.

To me this pick is very reminiscent to the late 90’s early 2k’s when picking a Hs player was in vogue. Now players are going the G League/ Prep school route and that is how I view Sharpe. The question you have to ask is “will he be this generations version of a Jermaine O’Neil type of prospect or a Lenny Cooke type? I for one and hoping that he is on the Jermaine level or greater!
