So the Warriors should have never gotten Jordan Poole. The Suns should have never gotten Ayton or Bridges. The Sixers should give away Maxey. It's absolutely nonsense. There's no team in the league where all the rotation guys are in the same age range.

You might not be the only one, but he shouldn't see rotational minutes until he proves it. If he proves it year one or year two or year three, he does need to prove it. A guy who hasn't played a second of college ball should never get a guaranteed rotational spot. We sucked last year but we weren't Orlando bad lol.

I don't think they'd of taken him if ants role was gonna be reduced.

I have my concerns too and am in lock step with you at "well, everyone is on board let's roll with it."

I was very disappointed we didn't find a way to get Duren. But alas, the cupboard was bare.

This is irritating. Where did I say any of these things? Seriously, where did I say a single one of those things? They are so dumb I have trouble believing you aren't kidding. I can't even, it's just too much, too embarrassing.

Apparently you completely ignored the part where I said "If Sharpe and Ant can fulfill their vast potential".

Sharpe has the talent to be good soon. Or he could suck. But you're not winning a chip with ae by drafting a guy who's going to be only a role player. Instead, they took a dude who could be a legitimate star four years from now. This reminds me of when the Blazers took Ant over guys like Jacob Evans and everyone was mad about it, but on steroids.

The goal is to compete now and compete into the future. There was no sure bet for a prospect in terms of a guy that would start and help us contend. Betting on upside gives us the best chance to contend down the road. I don't get how that means we shouldn't still try to win now because of what rookie we selected.

Whichever one of Nas or Sharpe is better ends up as our starting SF long-term. Sharpe and Nas at the 3 (Nas can play some small-ball 4) and then Dame/Ant/Hart 3-guard lineup is the plan I think.

Billups will play young guys when he can so that if something comes up and they are needed, they might actually be able to contribute.

Sochan has major offensive question marks and might not be better as a rookie than Sharpe. You don't know what a rookie can truly do in the league until they're in the league. This is the same conversations we had in 2018, but Ant wasn't nearly the prospect Sharpe is.

I didn't ignore anything. I went with the best case from your post, otherwise this was a bad pick, no? I mean, we need that "if" if we are going to be good, otherwise we won't, and so it goes.

I don't think we can say trading the pick or drafting a "role player" is any more of a sure thing than Sharpe sure. Only that it is more of sure thing. There are unknowns in every aspect of this. But this is worst case scenario for Dame getting a shot while he is elite Dame, which is just a travesty as far as I'm concerned.

This scenario also brings us back to the cursed three guard line up.

I don't know, man. I obviously appreciate the optimism and normal discussion. I just wasn't prepared for the most unseasoned player in the draft to end up in Portland. It just strikes me as so contrary to what Cronin professed, I'm practically shocked. And the fact that everyone is fine with it... just so so confusing.

Hey man. I'm shocked about the pick and shocked about the optimism. To me, we are one solid, defensive-minded SF away from making noise...and yet we draft 1. the most inexperienced player 2. a guard. I don't know, it just seems like there is a good path just out of reach. Like I said before, if we make a move to shore up the SF position and develop Sharpe, I'm way in. But this sort of commitment to being mediocre--or more realistically, this commitment to ride Dame into the ground--until *maybe* someone pops someday is a hard pill to swallow.

Sure, but Green gets all the minutes he needs to develop, plus one year experience of GLeague where he was playing against guys grinding for a main roster spot.

They’re also not entirely the same player.

I'll tell you this: The organization (Cronin, Billups, Dame) all think Nas will be that guy. They think he's got Mikal Bridges type potential. Right or wrong, that's their mindset.

Personally, I think Jabari Walker is going to end up being a forward that makes all our troubles go away. He's perfect for what they need. Getting him and Nas developing gives me hope.

Would you take Noel + 2023 DEN 1st from NYK if it was offered? Taking Noel on for one year would fill in our backup C spot and you can spend the MLE on another position.

Bamba and Smith are the only Cs I’d give the full MLE to. But even though it’s an overpay, I’d offer the full MLE to Batum. Batum at $10m on a 2+1 player option would be short enough that I’d be okay with it.

    Dame/Ant/Batum/Keon
    Ant/Hart/Sharpe/Keon
    Batum/Nas/Sharpe/Ingles
    Grant/Nas/Watford/Brown III
    Nurk/Noel/___

How would you feel about Noel for a year and Batum for possibly two?
