To take Noel's contract - Bledsoe only has to be guaranteed for ~$5.3M.
Since Detroit would be taking on that contract - it would be a legal trade.

Pistons need to be 19M under the cap to take the deal, but it gets waived after, and the actual cap hit is 5m?

Since Grant would be going out, they would only need to be $7M under the cap for it to go through.... (Bledsoe $19M + Walker $9M - Grant $21M = $7M)

but yes - Cap hit for Detroit would be ~$5M to eat Bledsoe's contract

Could you do a four team deal where the following happens?
    1) Blazers send out Bledsoe and some 2nds to HOU, get back Noel, Thybulle (Covington TPE), 2023 DEN 1st
    2) 6ers send out Thybulle + some 2nds to HOU, get back Gordon
    3) Rockets send out Gordon, get Bledsoe and NYK players + some draft compensation
    4) NY sends out Noel and 2023 DEN 1st + other parts to HOU, get Bledsoe (and pays the partial guarantee)

Didn’t think too much about all the parts, but that’s the jist of it. How would you feel about Thybulle + one year of Noel?

I'm not convinced. Alexander-Walker had $5 million dollars guaranteed for the next year and if we didn't want him then we cleared cap space in the coming season by trading him. And we got a second round pick out of it also. I don't think Ingles has any sense of belonging in Portland or wanting to stick around.

Noel is pretty much the ideal prototype to backup Nurk imo. Just someone that can protect the rim and switch in space in case we need to play matchups. It’s why I was interested in pretty much every rim running/protecting big in the second round. Bamba makes sense as well, as does Jalen Smith, but he may be too expensive. And I also still like Eubanks.

Adding Noel and Thybulle to this team would get me excited.

I still don’t get how, but adding Thybulle would be awesome. All league defenders are great

Adding 2 PFs in a wing league would be classic Blazers

My sincere hope is they find a way to successfully limit Dame's minutes.

I would love to see Dame around 32-33 minutes per game, and with Ant stepping up, I think hopefully we can see him hit that number.

This is an outstanding post, thank you for compiling all of that. I'm really hoping Nurk and Simons sign for less than $18 million each, and maybe there will be room to sign a back-up post player in addition to Eubanks for when Nurk gets injured again, which seems very likely. Another PG would also be nice, but maybe they can plug one of the plethora of shooting guards into that role. Cronin promised he would be going after a high-level free agent, but given the cap situation, it seems like Grant is all we can expect. Hopefully he works out.

Think this has been asked before but i didnt see the response.

Can we retain the 30 mil capholds for Nurk and Ant, finish our business with the MLE, and THEN sign our own guys to bigger deals that put us in the tax? Can we open our non tax MLE with simply an order of operations change?

Im still unclear on when we lose the full MLE

The fellas on Rip City Radio were talking about some potential moves that could be made. They were just throwing out some fun stuff that actually would be pretty cool. With Collins and OG not happening, they brought up the idea of acquiring Gordon Hayward & PJ Washington from the Hornets. A line up of Nurk, Grant, Hayward, Ant, & Dame is pretty cool. A bench with Hart, Nas, Washington, and say Hartenstein is pretty boss. Gordon's only deal is can he stay healthy. But he is a good player. I found this intriguing.

    My understanding:

We can use the full MLE either before or after re-signing Ant/Nurk--there is no difference. Only thing that matters with regard to full (non-tax) MLE is total salary with regard to the tax apron (153.6M). Exceptions don't factor into that calculation--cap hits only. If we use the NTMLE first, we simply can't cross the apron when re-signing Nurk and Ant. Theoretically, that could put us in a situation where Ant signs an offer sheet with another team that we can't match... unlikely, but possible.
