Same here. I grew up in that neighborhood and my (Catholic) grade school was just up Powell from the Jolly Roger. Back in the old days, when you couldn't eat meat on Fridays, that place would be jammed with local parishioners every Friday night. The food was awful but they gave the kids chocolate "doubloons" when you were leaving. After the JR moved, I always thought it was weird to see the sign on 12th. From my earliest memory until the JR moved in, that building was Bechtold's Timber Room and always seemed to be busy.

Recently fully approved. Appeal from Nimbys denied. Riverplace is about to go through some ginormous changes.
They are putting a Dough Zone (Seattle dumpling spot) there too. My aunt and uncle have a condo out there.
That’s exactly where it’s heading. Dense housing is the goal - towers will be popping up all over downtown with the population booming.
Alaska has huge mosquitos in the Summer. Their winters are goddawful with how short they have light for the day. Love to visit, though.
They need to bury I-5. Why does the westside get parks along the river and the eastside gets a freeway?
Because the east side has been the City of Portland’s bastard stepchild since the first settler moved over there. West side has all the money and influence. East of 82nd is the land that Portland forgot (willfully). Money talks, blue collar sucks hind teat……
Speaking of blue-collar getting the shaft we heard all about how @BLAZINGGIANTS sat in first class and made you babysit the kids in coach on your flight to Hawaii.
