I'm going to go with the world champion who in this comparison makes half as much, is two years younger and is arguably better overall. Looney played 104 of 104 Warrior games last season. His nickname among teammates is "Pro" as in professional. He doesn't sulk if he doesn't start or is given limited minutes in a game. They don't run plays for him so he focuses and excels at Big man stuff. Making half as much would mean they'd have an extra 10M per slot to sign other quality players.

By all reports, not going to happen.

eh Nurk's number will end up closer to 70. He's the better talent. I like Looney but question his impact on different team.

Arguable at best. If you want Iso scoring, Nurk is unquestionably the better talent. If you value D, Looney is much better at guarding all but the biggest guys. Much better team defender. Much more willing to do the dirty work on Offense

I always worry aquiring players from systems like Golden St is dangerous as having a top 10 all-time NBA player surrounded by some great floor spacers and an elite defender/play-maker in Green can make these role players look more productive than they would be on an average team.

Nurk's impact is somewhat dependent on him getting touches, which I do not love.

But I think there are better options than Looney even at the 10M price range.

Yeah.... Nurk is injury prone, he's moody, and he's inconsistent, but when he's engaged he's one of the best centers in the game. Not sure we can really get anyone better for the price.

I'd be moody too if I had to play with MeJ in Stottsfense.

Nurk. Nurk can be a dominating force. I know Looney had a nice playoff run, but Nurk is still developing. I like Looney as a backup, but some team might offer him big money.

We need a dominant defensive force, and someone who doesn’t require offensive touches

Those are the continuing issues. IF....Nurk is healthy, IF....he is engaged, and IF....he can be consistent. Tough for the team as a whole to count on that night after night.

They should S&T Nurk or let him walk. Neither is happening though or he wouldn’t have sit for that tank. No clue what the allegiance to Nurk by this franchise is all about. I feel like in his entire time in Portland there was one 3 month stretch of dominant consistent basketball sandwiched by seasons of injuries, pouting, and inconsistent play on the court. At 28 I doubt he is still waiting to break out. He is a flash player, he will tease you one game then be shit for 3 games. Athletic Rim runners is the way to go. Playing above the rim, running the court, catching lobs, and blocking shots. Who does that not sound like?

Looney’s role is to box out and get rebounds and play defense. Easy to shine when you have a bunch of offensive weapons around you to ease the workload. I see Draymond setting most the screens and a ton of off ball picks being set with that team.

I’d still take Nurk but I think gist of the conversation is relevant.

The center position has never been less important than in todays NBA

    Money wise looney.

But meh. I fear he will be different on another team. Warriors/spurs like systems... It'd be interesting to see a side by side of players who left those systems and how they fared on the new team.

But since Looney isn't going anywhere it's a moot point so it's nurk and you're gonna have to be okay with that in this scenario.
