Salty drinks usually replenish electrolytes you lose during sweat, but it can raise blood pressure

Okay I guess mine would fall into the heat exhaustion category. Still no joke. I feel extremely weak even doing the smallest tasks. I’ve been drinking pedialyte and water all day.

It's all about knowing your doses....a banana will replenish you more that a sports drink but sports drinks have ph balanced properties.

    Bump

What did your doc say and/or did you go to urgent care? I've had heat exhaustion before and that's what this sounds like to me. This is going to be super crass and I'm already sorry for saying it, but just jerk the pain away in a dark room with plenty of fluids.

I love when every day tasks can help in times of need.

    Wait...

That's a severe sign. A result of your dehydration. Heat exhaustion sucks. I've been there. Felt like someone was wringing out my intestines like a sponge. Keep hydrating (Gatorade is good for electrolytes but drink water too), rest, stay near a bathroom. If it persists, get your ass to the doctor. The real one. Not to the dog who plays one on TV.

Now I understand why it’s called heat stroke.

Got an IV and felt much better. The diarrhea has persisted though so yesterday I got lab work done for a stool sample and the results should come back today.

I swam in the Columbia river on Saturday so they think I could’ve got a bacterial infection of some sort.

I’m hoping I can get some antibiotics today after my labs come back. This will be my 4th day missing work. Ugh

Well at least you didn't swim in the Willamette. You would probably be in the ER if you did that.
