Please no. Agree with Blazers Uprise. Ayton is fine but not worth the max and giving up Nurk and Hart to get him.
He isn't as bad as people make him out to be. For the minimum we could do worse. It was mostly a joke though.
Ayton still has huge upside and instantly gives us better defense. by the way I still think everything hinges on 3 way deal with us Phoenix and Brooklyn
He was neighbors with my best friend when he coached in Portland. You couldn't meet a more down to earth guy with that much humility. Great guy!
terrific guy. showed great strength and grace after his wife's passing. i'm only talking about his bball competence. the way he handled ayton in the playoffs was questionable
Because we are making offers to GP2 and Brown. Both guys that are short guards. And salary would work with Hart while clearing up minutes for our new signing.
Let's say we do Nurk and Hart for Ayton. Still have a hope at starting forward. Also lose a guy in Hart that can fill some forward minutes. Would we fill those with vet minimums
I just want a contemporary big who can set picks and shoot from outside and be defensive. Whatever it costs to get that if it's available, that's it.
Any way we can trade for Ayton, matching needed salaries without Hart? Bledsoe 4 million, Nas, Winslow, Nurk. Maybe something else? Seems like it could get us close. Might need a third team. I really like Hart. Dame Payton Simons Sharpe Keon Didi Hart Grant Brown Ayton Watford Need vet minimum C and likely two vet minimum forwards. The hard cap from getting Payton really hurts our flexibility.
can someone with a good handle on the cba help me work out the mechanics of a double S&T with Nurk for Ayton?
I'm not up to date on CBA or salaries so some might better analyze this but here we go...... first its hard to know because we aren't certain what Nurks salary is and there would need to be other parts besides him and Ayton. I think a third team might have to be involved because of BYC. Also both Suns and Blazers would have to be under hard cap. So from Blazers end can't just swap Nurk and Ayton and stay under apron. Blazers out Hart 13.0 Nurk 15.0 = 28.0 Blazers in Ayton 31.0 Suns in Hart 13.0 Nurk 15.0 = 28.0 Suns out Ayton 15.5 Saric 9.2 = 24.7 Boston in Saric 9.2 (trade exception) So was already going to be really complicated to do. Now we got this Durant possibility going on, with the Suns his preferred destination and the Blazers possibly being in the mix. Wouldn't be shocked if this starts to drag on a long time.
So essentially we need another team to absorb a contract like Saric's/Shamet. And we need the sum of the contracts for Nurk + Hart to be around 80% of the deal Ayton gets (to meet the 125% criteria for salaries to match). I might do this. Ayton has more room to grow and is already slightly better than an engaged Nurk is now. Hart is an upcoming FA playing a position where we have a ton of replacements.
