Yes - soon as Grant is a Blazer, they can trade him to another team. He can be traded with others, but his salary can not be aggregated with other players for ~60-days. For example Grant + Keon Johnson could be traded to Atlanta for Collins + Jalen Johnson because Grant <-> Collins & Johnson <-> Johnson However, Grant ($20M) + Bledsoe ($20M) could not be traded for Durant ($44M) because you have to aggregate Grant + Bledsoe's contracts to be able to afford Durant.
Bledsoe could easily be included in the Grant trade to Detroit (along with $5M in cash). It looks like Detroit will need the extra salary to even get to the floor this year anyhow.
True, now that we have signed GP2. One option would be to trade Bledsoe with cash to a team like Indiana, taking back smaller deals that go elsewhere. They will be taking on a lot of small deals to make the Brogdon trade work.
Some other potential trade targets that we might still add and stay under the apron (~2.2 mil space) if we use Bledsoe (3.9 mil): - rudy gay (he's at 6.2, would be cutting it close, would need to add someone else) - cam reddish - korkmaz - taj gibson - jeff green - thybulle - niang
i think i want more PFs. Thybulle doesn't add much more than what GP2 does. also, i'm uncertain still of how the $ would work in any bledsoe trade for the team getting him.
Grant, Watford, and Winslow are a good trio at the four. I wouldnt want any of those above listed taking minutes away from Watford for example.
@PtldPlatypus @RR7 @B-Roy @hoopsjock does something like this comply with the CBA? does a team like Utah need more incentive? Partial guarantee Bledsoe + Keon + future second for Gay?
Pretty sure we can add someone up to 8.9M (3.9 + 5 we have under the room exception) if Bledsoe is also outgoing. But the tricky part is if you guarantee Bledsoe for 3.9 the other team needs to be able to receive Bledsoe as if he's making 19M. So all those options are probably out the door unless there's multiple players coming back. But it's honestly fine because I don't want any of those guys playing minutes over the players already on the team, save maybe Thybulle who would cost way more than a second.
so they would need space to take on 19 mil of bledsoe's deal, but would only really pay him 3.9 mil. And we can't take back much more than 3.9 because of our hard cap. That leaves only indiana/detroit/san antonio/okc as potential trade partners then if we want to move Bled?
From what I've read, regardless of guarantee amount, Bledsoe would count as his full outgoing salary to the receiving team. They wouldn't be paying that full amount, but they'd need to be able to fit it in. Whereas for us, he counts at whatever we guarantee him at.
