Out of those 2 --- Different kind of scary cause one is TOTAL fiction and the other could happen to a degree No chance the THING is real but sharks are and that is why at the time of release a big portion of people were legit scared to go into the sea. If i am not mistaken The director or Benchley regretted the movie and the impact it on how Sharks were viewed by people.
Jaws is scarier. Millions of people are afraid to go swimming because of Jaws, but nobody's scared to go out in the snow because of The Thing. (Both brilliant, BTW, and both their respective director's best movies.)
AT 8:27 the scene is the original Alien concept of stretching flesh, oozing in gob, and revolting the general public. Personally, I like the Kurt "FuckYou"! I want that for my phone when telemarketers call.
There is some evidence that the killing of sharks spiked since Jaws. I think that movie affected the psyche of people. I much prefer The Thing but Jaws had real world ramifications.
You mean Through The Fire, right? https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0457502/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_3 The movie was okay, the subject matter was a huge disappointment.
