Best caught-by-surprise moments in a while, thank you. (although Mark Bryant most definitely couldn’t shoot like JW)
Exactly the type of player we’ve been missing. A guy with length that can space the court and defend.
Walker may end up playing legit rotation minutes this year which is a crazy thing to be talking about right about now.
So weird... I'm watching Brian Scalabrine talk about being a role player in the NBA and what he's saying applies so much to what we're seeing from Walker right now.
Easily becoming one of my favorite Blazers to root for. What a pick. I know its just summer league, but its hard not to get excited for his future.
Lock him down. 3 yr contract needs to go out tmrw to his agent. Do it before he shows even more and demands a PO for the last yr.
Lets be real, the Blazers weren't even that high on him. If they were, they would've figured out a way to get him before #57. It's looking like a great pick, but I can't imagine even Cronin thought this was a first round talent, but was equally confident he'd slide all the way to the end of the 2nd round.
or they knew he would fall to them later. There were a lot of draft and stashes in front of their last pick.
How would they know? That would be some crazy arrogance. The cost to move up 10 spots from 57 to 47 is so low (we basically had that pick anyway), it would be malfeasance to take such a risk if you KNEW he was that good.
They traded 46 for a future pick. I think they had always intended to use just one of the second rounders, but this seemed like a "hey why not" kind of pick more than one where they really targeted him aggressively.
100%. If they thought Walker was going to be some super solid pick, they would've traded up from #46, not traded out traded out.
