It is absolutely is high. I don't like it. For that money we could have kept Copp, or spent less and added a # 2/3 C to pair with Chytil, and then kept Motte or someone else. I don't get Drury's thinking on this one. Trocheck is blah, and for that many years and AAV...nope. 7 years is quite frankly outrageous and ridiculous.

I would have signed a lesser good FO C to co-pair with Chytil at 2 and 3, and re-signed others to build depth with the savings.

I am lost on this one. He got 7 years - SEVEN - and got a high AAV also. Where is Drury's head. I rather have Copp for sure, and while I like Trocheck more than Strome, for 7 years and that AAV, I rather have Strome - we'll see what he signs for.

Copp got 5 years same AAV - I much rather have Copp, and for two less years.

Very surprised at the extra year, but the AAV is pretty much expected.

I love Copp the player but he is a C/W tweener who has spent way more time at wing. If they thought he was the answer at 2C they would have signed him. He's not. Winnipeg barely played him at C either. It's not an apples to apples comparison at all.

Strome is also a completely different player. Trocheck got Selke votes last year, Strome couldnt find the defensive zone on a map and has forechecked maybe twice in his career. Not what we need.

The extra year is very surprising, but calling Trocheck blah is very confusing to me. How many posts did I see in the playoffs whining about faceoffs? We just got one of the best in the biz.

Copp was too soft to be the 2nd line center on this team.

I rather have Trocheck than Strome, no doubt. But for 7 years, not sure. I want to see what Strome's deal looks like to make a fair assessment. Also is there any NT or NM tied to Trocheck's deal? If yes it is even worse. But player to player Trocheck is better, and does a lot more than Strome.

Copp 5 years vs. Trocheck 7 years, give me Copp for sure, especially if any NT or NM clauses.

I do like the FO aspect though, I agree there. 54.6% and 56% the past two seasons for Trocheck.

It'll kind of be like the situation with Trouba where the last 2y of the deal they will have to figure out. He's a solid player with the FO as mentioned, and is a better pure C than Copp. They have about $5m to re-up Kakko and get a backup G so the Motte ship may be sailing but they will just do something at the DL again for help. Will they find a way to make Kane happen? That's the big ? now.

I am good with Halak deal - I wouldn't expect much less for a backup, maybe 200 or 300 K, but not moving the needle.

I'd love to find a way to re-sign Motte as a capper.

Can't imagine Motte will get more than 2.25.

I heard Trocheck to the Rangers was a possibility. Seven years is a long time but I’m sick of losing faceoffs
