I broke it down. I think we can find 10ish minutes per game for Sharpe at the start of the season. I think that's a good number to start off with. If he shows he can take more, you make a trade.
If thats the case, it makes this year harder to watch. Part of the whole pull of this year is watching Sharpe progress. We aren't contenders without Sharpe exploding onto the scene. We need that pick to hit. I know, I know. Its just one year. I'm not expecting him to be Kobe. But for us to have hope at making any type of noise with Dame's timeline if we don't want to move Sharpe, he needs to be pretty good next year or really really good the year after. Just depends on when Dame slows down.
True enough. Eubanks can be cut out of there too. These would just be averages anyway. I think it'd be fine to have players take an occasional game off to allow everyone more mpg in the games they do play.
i'm good if we get him 10-20 mpg. just don't see that coming nightly. think he'll get some DNPs. still not sure how to feel about it yet without seeing him play.
That's why we do it back to him when he tries to beat his chest about some prediction. Only to go back and see he made a bunch of wrong predictions or loved a signing he now seems to hate. He had Banchero and Keegan Murray ranked 8th and 11th
Hart at 20mpg is nowhere near enough. Hard-capping ourselves by using the Full MLE on a guy who only plays 15mpg doesn't make much sense either.
This was the rotation I came up with. I think it's reasonable we can find 10ish minutes for him. PG - Dame (32) Ant (16) SG - Ant (18) GP2 (25) Hart (5) Hart (25) Little (13) Sharpe (10) Grant (32) Little (5) Winslow (11) Nurk (28) Watford/Eubanks (20) Dame 32 minutes (PG) Ant 34 minutes (SG/PG) Hart 30 minutes (SF/SG) Grant 32 minutes (PF) Nurk 28 minutes (C) GP2 25 minutes (SG) Little 18 minutes (SF/PF) Winslow 11 minutes (PF) Sharpe 10 minutes (SF) Watford/Eubanks 20 minutes (C) depending on the team we're facing.
Playing Ant more than Dame? I think you have to play Dame at least 35mpg. Nas at 18 feels low. Really hard to work it out unless Nas plays more 4 or Sharpe sits.
Shaedon duplicating Kobe's rookie year would have him averaging 15 MPG and almost 8 points a game. While I'd be very happy with that sort of start to Sharpe's career, you had it right when you stated "we aren't contenders". STOMP
unfortunately, removing Eubanks will do very little to add to Shaedon's PT. Now imagine if we signed someone like OPj or Harteinstein or some minimum bigman better than Drew instead of GP2.... roster would be more balanced and there would be a clear avenue to get Sharpe consistent PT. We don't seem to care about that... anyways
Haha, I didn't mean Kobe's literal rookie year. I guess I meant it more as Kobe in his prime. I agree. I would be happy with Kobe's rookie year as long as we saw glimpses of awesomeness there too
The hope is that Sharpe/Walker/Nas can make Hart/Winslow redundant. Hart/Winslow/picks for OG makes A LOT of sense to me.
Here's my thought: I want Dame to average a lower amount, but some nights he'll obviously log more than that. I want Nas to prove that he can stay healthy and put up numbers. Start him at 18 and if he earns more, you play him more. Ultimately I want to move Hart and Winslow but I don't want to do that until some of the other guys prove that they can shoulder that load.
Not enough to accomplish what purpose? You'll get no argument from me on that. In all reality, there aren't enough minutes in a game for all the things we want to do. I guess maybe we should start by prioritizing the things we want to accomplish. Maximize a healthy Dame Give Ant the room to become the star shooting guard we all hope he can be Give Nas the room to become the star 2-way forward we all hope he can be Let Grant be the all-star PF Dame seems to think he is Give Nurk the time and latitude to be the star Nurk seems to think he is. Maximize Hart's skills/experience/trade value Get the most out of our big free agent signing Develop our uber-talented lottery pick Develop our diamond-in-the-rough 2nd round forward Develop our diamond-in-the-rough UDFA from last year Develop the hyper-athletic SG we picked up in the Clippers trade Would you say those are about right in terms of order of importance? If not, how would you rearrange them?
