Sharpe needs at least 16-20mpg MINIMUM. I honestly don’t even care if he “earns” the minutes or not. We need to get him game reps at all costs. The faster we figure out if we should trade (or keep) him the better. I don’t want to go into his 3/4 season wondering “what to do with Shaedon” like we did with Ant/Nas (to a lesser extent). And I still think they both would’ve been better off without Stotts … and would be better players today if Stotts let them actually play.
I don’t think Sharpe needs those kinds of minutes right away, at least in NBA games. He should spend some time with the team and really learn what is expected of him on defense, then he should spend a good chunk of the season in the GL. When he’s away, he can be playing 30+mpg working on his offense. I don’t even think it’s worth giving him more than 10mpg unless he’s scoring 20+ppg for a solid stretch in GL. A Nurk injury greatly increases his chances of him coming back up to the main roster anyway.
It would be awesome if Sharpe was good enough to get (semi) consistent minutes this year, but I'm not sure that's doable. Not impossible, especially if he's as good as some people think he could be. Ideally he could get some minutes here and there and totally show some flashes of what he could be, and by the end of the season see regular minutes NOT because of an injury or because the team is going no where and decided "wgaf at this point".
Sharpe should only be coming in on blowouts so do we really need to worry about him now? Or were we talking long term and I'm a dumbass?
That was aggressive, but I agree with this. Is everyone against us putting him in the GL for a short stint? I’d actually like to see what he can actually do on offense in games that don’t matter to us since we didn’t get to see that in SL.
I think it important to remember that whoever play will be the ones who have earned it. That is Billups philosophy. Stotts relied on whoever had the most experience. That isn’t Billups. Look at Watford. He earned minutes when we still had RoCo and nance. I believe when we see sharpe, it will be because he earned it
If Sharpe earns minutes, he earns minutes. But nothing gets handed to you in this league and certainly not as an unproven rookie.
Sharpe ain't playing rotation minutes if we're at full health. He's gonna have to earn them when injuries come, unfortunately.
Watford earned minutes when we had injuries and there was literally no one else to play backup center.
The most important question of all: how long will they wait before announcing he is out for the year? Seriously, I don't expect to see him play at all this season and blaming a phantom injury is the easiest excuse.
Is there any evidence that force feeding a straight from HS kid to the league speeds up their development? Much/most of his 1st year development will happen outside of of our purview where the people who actually make player personal decisions are watching. He needs to learn how to be a pro. What will and won't work against professionals in practice. What to eat. How to train... etc. How good he'll eventually be largely depends on how dedicated he is to the sport when he is outside of actual NBA games. Perhaps there are good reasons managements of teams across sports often shelter their prized young players and ignore impatient fans on message boards... All "we" need to do is decide whether to attend games/buy the league pass. STOMP
Ant more than Dame might be fun in theory, but don't see it likely playing out that way. GP2 with a massive increase in minutes over anything he has done in his career seems unlikely as well, or more miniature lineups which hasn't worked out well. Little needs more than 18 minutes. That is good for Nurk, although I'm still not confident at all in Watford/Eubanks as the backups.
Pardon my French but I don’t give a rat fuck what he is ready for I’ll use a football example A lot of rookie QBs aren’t ready to play day 1; but they’re damn sure a lot better at the end of the season (or even midseason) for doing it.
