That's fine if you're not swayed. From what I've read he was going to play but his family advised him it'd be best to redshirt this year, learn the offense/defense that Kentucky wants to play, and play next year. Joining the team late meant there was a very good chance he'd have looked lost out on the floor and hurt his stock. Or he could have looked amazing out on the floor. Personally I'm glad he chose that route because if he had played no way would he have been available at pick 7.
Word on the street is that following his MRI results, Sharpe has been placed on a strict Spaghetti-O’s diet and is expected to be ready by training camp. Anyone saying anything else is wrong. Prepare for Sharpe to be on every can of Spaghetti-O’s in the next 3 years.
I thought the Sharpe pick was the right one, and I hope he hits, because he has great talent. But, if he busts, I'm taking dibs on the name Shaedon Shart.
Lol, what a bitter repetitive joke you are. I didn't kill the Duck forum any more then your hilarious solo 10 page game day threads did... most of the later pages were complaints that no one wanted to talk on line with you! Remember how funny you were when you'd spend the first few pages bitching about Darron Thomas not throwing the ball enough for your liking & then they'd be up 45-3 at half? Lol good times! Anyhoo, of course it was the Oregonian starting coverage of recruiting (for free!) that killed the Duck forum here as that was 90%+ of the conversation. Perhaps you've noticed that now that they've largely thrown in that towel, Duck banter here is rising like a phoenix again as there is stuff to talk about & not just link to the local paper. I expect this will continue to build into the fall. but keep bringing the funnies Mighty Viking! Everyone likes a good laugh STOMP
You hope that's the case, but you have no basis for knowing that. People have sung his praises, but none of us have seen him perform at a level that makes him a sure thing.
So appropriate this post was written as if it was a fairy tale. Bitterman, party of one! What a silly mess you continue to be. There wasn't once a Duck forum and then I showed up... I was easily a (if not the) main contributor of content to that forum & it was almost all recruiting talk. I'm sure Sly, Wheels, Zags, Mediocre Man and a few others still here will back me up on that. Hey guys, did I ever argue with you and drive you away, or was it more a normal exchange of info about our shared Duck interest? Hey Zags, have I ever so much as commented on your bona fides as a real Duck fan? As I stated prior, the O starting to cover recruiting ended most of our banter as they relayed the same info I'd been doing of which players were interested, visiting, highlight tapes and whatnot. The board here tanked because it no longer had a role to play, you could find out about & chat about recruiting on the O's site. Bitterman party of one! has had an axe to grind with me since then because I had the nerve to laugh at his hilarious posts. Believe me, the solo game day threads consisting of one meltdown after another despite one blowout win after another were beyond funny especially him pleading and getting angry that no one would talk on line with him. Just maybe they didn't join in because who wants to watch a game with someone who wants to fire coaches/change QBs & generally wet their pants every other possession? About the same time I was also ticked that the Olshey Blazers matched the NJ deal retaining Crabbe for exorbitant funds. Nate was a big proponent of that move so we'd gone back and forth on that too. I brought up how similar to this his trumpeting the massive talents of Martell Webster including linking articles he wrote on hoopshype comparing Martell favorably to a young MJ. Obviously Crabbe wasn't a 20M a year player just like Martell wasn't MJ and a very bitter poster came to be who will probably continue to grind that axe forever. But whatevs, message board drama... STOMP
Which I'm perfectly fine with at this point. In three years time we won't care about him not playing a year of college basketball. And playing a year of college basketball doesn't really mean much for determining a player's career in the NBA. If we or the scouts did the NBA draft wouldn't be such a crapshoot.
That's only true if a player turns out as projected prior to their one-and-done season. The Skal/Giles examples are all you need to know about how illustrative a lone season can be. If they had ducked the college competition, they would have been drafted way higher than their true value, based on pre-college expectations.
Well yeah there's been plenty of straight to the NBA out of high school players that have failed in the NBA. Not everyone is a Kobe or Lebron or Jermaine O'neal etc. But Skal/Giles could have still been drafted where they were if they bombed the workouts and such. Ant "ducked" college as well and was still drafted late in the first round.
