There's always one. Black person supporting enslavement. Women saying rape victims deserve it. Gays setting up at CPAC. Jew cheering for Nazis.

I don't know how you all can follow politics and not become depressed and/or suicidal....

I acknowledge it is not societally responsible for me to tune it out, but for my own personal well-being and for managing my day-to-day life and for the health of my children/family, I kinda feel like I have to tune a lot of it out.

My son feels the same....I won't tune it out. Not in my blood to ignore anything that can alter the quality of life for those who will live long after I'm gone. I tune in to plenty of humor and joy to balance it out but if you've ever seen real war...it's a game changer for the rest of your life. My generation fucked up plenty but we also did more for civil rights in this country than scores of generations before us. When I see that backslide, it becomes a megaphone and a soapbox for me. It takes courage to live and and deal with depressing things in a healthy way. Suicide is a coward's game. I still spend quality time with my grandchildren and family even though my wife and I talk about current events all the time and keep up on what's going on in the world. Awareness doesn't have to be a downward spiral. I understand why some folks choose to ignore world news daily. I simply can't.

I don't tune it out but I admit I need to get away occasionally. Watch a ball game, read a novel, watch something silly on TV. Go see Nutcracker every year.

Play with Lucia. She is so happily unaware the world is going to hell.

The US isn't losing power. It's just disengaging from the system that won us the cold war. China has abused the system and the only thing that allows them to do that is the US naval dominance keeping trade routs open and safe.

Once the US pulls back fully China will be toast. So will Russia, unless they are somehow able to overthrow a dozen-neighbors in the next few years. But they'd have to win in Ukraine first. And that's far from a sure thing.

The EU should be alright since they are our allies. But it won't be the same as the last several decades.

I am opposed to this, BTW. I like globalism and think the US should maintain navagable trade routes for the world, and use our power to push a carbon tax and other environmentally friendly solutions.

A five year old was kicked out of kindergarten because she is being raised by a same sex married couple and the school is Christian. Of course.

The child is the niece of one of the women. They adopted her after her parents were killed. She had attended preschool at this school, had friends and teachers she liked. Her parents thought continuity would be good for her after losing her parents. But traumatizing bereaved children was the Christian thing to do, according to the school.

@Lanny will be happy to hear several other Christian schools reached out saying they would welcome the child.
