I'm down to my last half jar of strawberry rhubarb jam....blackberries are starting to come on as well as grapes so will have to wait to make a new batch of jam. those look great!
I love trying different salsas. What is your preferred tortilla chip? I like Juanita's but there are always good local choices. I'm sure the bay has some great ones.
I like Juanita's but the last couple bags i've gotten are very greasy. They taste good but maybe i've started to change my tastes. We usually get these from Costco.
Yeah, made them myself. I used to hate oysters, but only because the ones I had were shooters drenched in cocktail sauce. On the half shell with a splash of mignonette is SO much better. That being said, they're not for everyone!
Grilled in flour, sesame oil, garlic puree' and sweet chili sauce...these were shucked at North Bend on the coast on my birthday ..my son brought me a dozen and they're the bomb....giant fresh oysters!
some were more covered by the pork chop, but agreed, it definitely did. It's all I had on the bush! We picked it pretty good the other night.
beans were sparse in my garden this season...just picked some yesterday and it's slim pickings...usually I can't keep up with them...too cold in June this year
I planted 3 plants early on, 2 I think got drowned out by our heavy rains, so we've gotten about 4 or 5 meals out of the one. Not terrible, but we love green beans, so was hoping for way more!
Oysters are my absolute favorite food. I’ll eat them any and every way. Prefer them on a charcoal grill just til they’re ready to open and then dipped in butter garlic sauce and topped with sriracha. I prefer the larger ones while most people like the petites. When we go to the beach we easily put away two bushels
They were probably talking about La BBQ but be prepared for a wait there as well. Franklins (at least the last time I was going up there) meant you had to be there by 8am or you weren't getting food, even if they opened at 11am. I've had both and Franklins is good but I'd go to La every single time. Not sure if it's the same pitmaster, but the guy that started La came from Franklins. Everything there is delicious but I'm always partial to brisket, pork ribs and sausage. If you do go, get the jalapeno mac and cheese, maybe the best side I've ever had at a BBQ joint. Other places that are really good, Terry Blacks is known for their beef ribs, Micklethwait BBQ, and Stiles Switch (the building is the old Emporium pool house from the movie Dazed and Confused) that I've had and would highly recommend that won't have as long of a wait. If you have a car or want to take a little trip, the Salt Lick's original Driftwood location (about 30 miles from Austin) is a great little spot where they typically have live music and an open pit. The BBQ might not be an A, more of an A- or B+ but the ambiance is awesome. Or you could head for the small town of Lockhart (again probably 30 miles away) that is generally considered the birthplace of Texas BBQ and has some of the more iconic restaurants in the state.
