he's not starting with the ball from the 3-point line like he did in the past. He's going to get much better looks this season, especially if Winslow is a starter.

I hear ya, I know it's early but am very worried about the Ant/Dame pairing, Nas gets a pass for now given how rusty he likely is, but he needs to get back to last yr's good play in a reasonable time frame

What you say is true, but we have had better than a 10% winning record - even when we were tanking last year.

Yes, we definitely see many of the preseason issue easily flow right into the regular season. Hence my other post, I don't expect much early on but am hoping (cross-fingers) that they will gel as a team and become better as the year progresses and make our way to .500 or slightly better by the end of the season.

Unless a couple of our "role" players (Nas? Sharpe? Someone else?) blows up, we are likely a mediocre, at best, team this year. Especially what little we've seen of the Dame/CJ (AntJ?) pairing thus far. Color me utterly unimpressed.

Much as I love Dame, I'm thinking he may be the Mike Barrett of team player evaluation. Seems to totally believe in Ant - regardless of the fact that, like with CJ, there is a ton of skill overlap, both work best with the ball in their hands and both are defensively less-than-impressive.

I'm willing to see how it works for a while but my fear is that Ant won't shine like he did on his own and thus reduce the potential trade value of that very-large contract he was just given. Not sold on him long-term.

    Gramps...

    Naz is only 22, Hart & Winslow 25 & 26.

Since Anf is starting at 2 you could start Naz or Winslow at there and bring Hart in for Anf.
Between Anf, Dame, JG & Nurkic being the primary 1-4 scoring option, you need a junk yard dog at the 3.

I was watching the NETS game and their front 3 are basically all 7 footers. Man oh man.

Man as we went on the air at 7pm last night, it’s a safe bet to say there was 5,000 in that arena. We had trouble shooting our pregame interviews and other shots because there was NO fans in the seats.

That kid impacted the games in so many ways. He is a player we should have hung onto.

I wasn't clear, sorry...when I said 'mid-tier' I meant on the Blazer roster. Dame is obviously the alpha, but gauging by sub-sets of fans and their new contracts, Simons & Nurkic are supposed to be better than mid-tier on the team. I was hoping they'd combine for 30-35M/year instead of the 43M they are getting. I guess Grant belongs with them rather than Hart/Winslow because of salary

I'm guessing there is some food-fight around here about "scheme" I haven't tracked?

Callabro isn't part of the team; he's a part of the broadcast and he grates on my nerves

I don't want Winslow playing C. We'd get killed on the boards.

I don't want Eubanks or Watford playing 20+ mins on night when Jusuf gets foul happy.

Demarcus Cousins still has not been signed by anyone. Would be an obvious addition but our team appears content to simply duck the tax.

Apparently, most teams think he sucks. At least the teams he has recently played for.

The roster isn't that strong. We know that. Could they have dealt Ant and/or Nurk with S&T for star power? I have no clue but I would have taken the risk if possible. I love this team and am still as big a fan as ever but I have to be realistic about expectations. The bright side is getting a good pick to help the rebuild.

Good point. I also left out other important buzz words such as:

    Drop Coverage
    Effort
    Time Out Usage
    Rotation

    IMO

Dame needs to handle the ball and Ant play 2-guard; not the other way around

We won’t win a title with Winslow starting. I like him off the bench; start Naz. Time for him to settle in as a starter and gain confidence.

6th man needs to be a guy like Payton or Winslow (or both as 6th & 7th) replacing either Dame or Ant as well as Naz. Hart then comes in.
