Once JBuss and Robbie see they are as mediocre as 26 other teams are, as in years past they will try their magic once again.
Tanking will not benefit them. In 2023, the Pelicans have the right to swap picks with the Lakers in the first round via the Anthony Davis trade.
I thought they already had two generational players on that team? Three is you count the guy that averaged a triple double all season?
You can't have it both ways... Would you have rather given up the #7 pick (Sharpe) for Nance? The protections were put on the pick by Portland - not Chicago.
The guy that averaged a triple double that cant shoot worth beans? And nobody wants in at end of games. That guy!
Wemba looked incredible the other night. Best prospect since LeBron? Blazers need to make a decision quick on trying to win vs tank this season. Last year they waited until January which kept us out of the top 5 picks.
they aren't as much protections as impediments. Teams almost never protect a pick that long. It's almost always for 2 or 3 seasons, at most, than switching to a 2nd round pick or two. And those are usually for players quite a bit better than the often-injured Nance a good GM would not have encumbered Portland first's for 7 years, certainly not for Nance.
c'mon man. Blazers would not only have to trade Dame, they'd have to trade Grant, Nurkic, Hart, and maybe even Simons to have a chance to 'compete' for the first pick. And even if they had the worst record in the league, they'd only have a 25% chance of landing on #1
14% is the correct number. Man if we tank the season and get 2-3, it will still feel like a failed season.
