I’m definitely an out of shape former pickup/Y league hooper. Best position is probably a stretch Power Forward. I can still shoot it pretty decently from 3. A couple post moves but not much. Decent post defense. Below average perimeter D. Kinda like Sheed minus the defense. Lmao.
Here I am just before I started my body building career. http://wrestlersbioa.weebly.com/uploads/8/6/8/1/8681413/5594828.jpg and here's a photo of Sly in his hey day. https://media.gettyimages.com/photo...=Lx6SIiN9hrqL_MEsv9sLQWDc958hJgbv6SJua5YGXy4=
Back in the day....... They called me "Kiki King" 'cos I was a blend of Kiki Vandewege and Bernard King. Had a unstoppable Elvin Hayes-like turn around J. on the mid post. I was a good shot blocker and long range (before the 3 pointer!) shooter. In high school, I "held" Jeff Stout (starter on OSU 1981 #1 ranked team) to 44 points! Alas, time and asthma has ended all that decades ago.
Haven't played a pickup game on a court since my son was in OSU 10 years ago....I have a hoop in the driveway I shoot from time to time and my son has a nice hoop in his driveway but no contact hoops since I was in my late 50s.....I play ping pong much more or badminton...speed minton...tennis. My knees can''t take running on a basketball court anymore.
Always had a great outside shot. From deep too. But two torn ACLs later and those days are long gone. I once got to meet Dame. I said to him, "yeah, I got a pretty good outside shot too." He totally cracked up. That was a highlight.
What's the "toughest" court/neighborhood in Portland to play pickup ball? I'm guessing somewhere near @THE HCP's home in NEP. I mean, doesn't he live near Damon's old stomping grounds?
