in a franchise history filled with fuckups, the current GM of the Wolves went all in on the most disastrous two days in Wolves history

on July 6 he did this deal:

    upload_2022-11-10_11-17-42.png

and the very next day he signed KAT to that insane extension. A 'twin towers' roster worked in the 80's, but that was 40 years ago

I don’t think attempting the twin tower lineup is the problem. They just committed way too much to the wrong big. We already knew mobility and guarding perimeter players was going to be a problem for Gobert, so not sure what MIN was thinking.

Mobley/Allen have been very good so far. Worth attempting imo if you can draft those bigs or trade for them for cheap like how the Cavs got Allen. That’s partly why I hope a team like the Hornets give up on Mark Williams early.

Trading firsts in this day age is asinine.

I wouldn't trade Jerami, I'd extend him as soon as we can. I think he's the most complementary player to Dame's skillset that we've ever put with Dame. The cool thing about Ant is that we get to wait and see how that fit is until at least mid January. At that point if Dame/Shae looks like it could be as good if not better just because of fit than Dame/Ant then I'd see what was out there for Ant.

    I’m focused on two players:

Myles Turner and Kenyon Martin Jr

    Rim protection, shooting and energy

    But not for Ant though

I really wanted to get Siakam a couple years ago when he was slumping a little and having trouble with the coach. I think he is almost untouchable now, 24 points, over 9 rebounds and 7.7 assists a game on fairly efficient shooting. Going to the line almost 8 times a game.

Not to mention that he just doesn't have the kind of toughness that our team now loves.

Right. I am wondering why they didn't get Turner. He would have been just as good at blocking shots, a good three point shooter, more mobile than Gobert and a hell of a lot cheaper.

If Indy liked Ant for a perimeter of Haliburton, Ant and Mathurin then I would take Turner and Jalen Smith for Ant. Then you'd want to find a home for Nurk that brought us back a backup PG.

...except that he seems very injury prone.

A Simons/Grant package is tough, since the team would absolutely need a big man coming back for the deal to be viable.

What I would like is a trade built around Simons for Mathurin. Imagine a team with Dame at PG and a rotation of Mathurin, Sharpe, and Hart at the 2&3. Total pipedream as Indy has zero incentive to trade a rookie who is already NBA ready.

    Trade Nurk instead of Grant.

I agree! It’s hard to finding players of Grants caliber that really want to play in smaller markets. Such as Portland. All star or not, Most players of his caliber aren’t burning up to go to a smaller market team and he did choose to come here. That’s got to hold some value to Portland.

Here's a suggestion: Ant for Markelle Fultz. It makes sense for US, because we currently have to have people like Reddish or Watford bring the ball up, and even when Ant's healthy, he's not a PG. Plus Fultz is taller and a better defender, so pairs well with Dame in the backcourt. It kind of makes sense for them, too, because they're bringing Jalen Suggs along to be their PG of the future and Ant pairs fine with him, and probably better than Fultz. Now, I know we think we can do better than Fultz, but he's still young, he's from the Pacific NW, and:

Who gives a shit if he's from the NW??

Not only that, this is a laughably bad trade for the Blazers.

Rather save Anf for a trade for a bigger guy, but this trade would be intriguing.

Not sure of a name, but I think a defensive, rebounding minded, long athletic 4 who can stretch the floor if needed.
Like a Bobby Portis type of player? Siakam type?

    Dame
    Sharpe
    Reddish
    Siakam
    New athletic center
