Yes, it is peculiar the way the russians announced the withdrawal.

Although they have abandoned checkpoints and a few villages. The more concentrated they become, the more susceptible to soft target artillery shells.

Ukrainian forces have already retaken 12 villages since russia annonced their withdrawal from Kherson.
    Day 260
Russia ordered troops to withdraw from the west (right) bank of the Dnipro River to the east (left) bank. Russian National Security Council Secretary Nikolai Patrushev met with senior Iranian officials.
Russian and Ukrainian sources reported continued fighting along the Svatove-Kremmina highway and Bilohorivka, Luhansk Oblast. Ukrainian forces made territorial gains northeast of Kherson City and continued their successful interdiction campaign. Russian forces continued offensive operations in Donetsk Oblast.
Russian federal subjects are struggling to pay mobilized personnel. Relatives of mobilized personnel continue to protest lack of payment and poor conditions.
Russian occupation deputy head of Kherson Oblast Kirill Stremousov killed in a claimed car accident in rear Kherson Oblast. Bridges blown up en masse on occupied right bank of Kherson Oblast.
Ukrainian Armed Forces liberate another two villages in Kherson Oblast. Russia carries out over 10 cyberattacks on strategic Ukrainian targets every day.
More than 100,000 Russian military casualties in Ukraine, top US general says. East Europeans prepare for possible new Ukrainian refugee wave as winter nears. Germany Hands Over IRIS-t Missiles and Dingo Vehicles to Ukraine.

It's almost midnight in Kherson and Ukrainian troops have entered Kherson city from the west and south . Other Ukrainians are driving the russians south across a wide swath of territory north of Kherson, dozens of villages liberated today. russians trying to flee across the river, Ukrainians trying to hit them with rockets and artillery but moving targets at night are not easy. Chaotic for the russians also, it is claimed that many did not know they were evacuating until a couple hours ago. I fear that most russian equipment may have already been evacuated, but still a great victory.

I hope that I am not the kind of guy who posts after a Blazer victory, talking about what they did wrong. I don't think I am.

Ukraine has taken Kherson today and people are celebrating. It's a great psychological victory and it's wonderful that the marvelous people of Kherson will not be under russian rule any longer. But I fear that this was a military victory for russia. They were able to pull out almost all of their troops and equipment unharmed. There are not videos of captured and deceased russian soldiers. None of captured or destroyed equipment. I believe they began withdrawing weeks ago and that they had withdrawn 95% of troops and equipment by the time they announced there would be a withdrawal. They even blew up the main bridges across the Dnipro last night. They had planned this operation for a long time and they pulled it off successfully. Ukraine intelligence was way off, claiming even yesterday that 5-20,000 russians wer trapped. Even after russia's announcement of withdrawal, Ukraine and western sources were worried that it was a fake and a trap. With all the satellite intel and partisans inside, I wonder how this happened?
Yes, Ukraine is still going to win the war. But I think they lost the opportunity to strike a huge blow against russian military. Sorry there is no capability here for people to add a sad emoji.

Giving up a huge swath of territory and a large city is not at all a win for Russia. I get what you are saying about a missed opportunity though.

I think it's going to be a little slow for Ukraine news for awhile, now that they have taken Kherson. The real action has been taking place in the center and north, where Ukraine is well positioned and dug in and destroying a lot of untrained attacking russians every day. I hope they will just hold their ground there while preparing a winter offensive that will probably cut russian armies in two and hopefully retake what's left of port city Mariupol.
"The Russian troops launched 4 missile and 16 air strikes, and more than 40 MLRS attacks, damaging more than 20 settlements in the Zaporizhzhia, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, and Donetsk Oblasts.
Russia’s withdrawal from Kherson City causes discord in the Russian power elite. Ukrainian forces continued counteroffensive operations in the direction of Kreminna and Svatove.
Ukrainian forces continued to liberate settlements on the right (western) bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson Oblast. Russian forces continued offensive operations in the direction of Bakhmut, Avdiivka, and Vuhledar. Belarus is indignant that Ukraine is strengthening its border.
Satellite images of Sevastopol confirm a sharp decrease in the activity of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation. The water supply in Mykolaiv will be restored no earlier than 10-15 days.
Two bulk carriers with grain to leave Ukrainian ports for countries on brink of famine. The situation in Kherson is close to a humanitarian catastrophe. Netherlands to allocate additional 110 million euros to support Ukraine in winter."

I saw President Zelensky visited Kherson, even though city is without water or power. Putin holed up in bunker.

Also Russia had put up billboards reading Russian Forever. Oops

This surprised me a little bit. russia has a large amount of artillery just across the river from Kherson city. I have a theory that a deal was made with military only; that Ukraine would allow russia to exit Kherson fairly peaceably if russia promised not to shell Kherson. Completly unsupported by evidence except that so far russia has not shelled Kherson.

Polish jets already in the air. I think they will be prudent though. I wouldn't mind if they attacked one of the sites that these missiles are coming from.

If you can take out Gaddafi, Hussein and Bin Laden, then why not Putin? Biden said not one inch of NATO soil should be crossed...I'd say it's been crossed

Bin Laden was not a head of state. Qaddafi was taken out internally. Hussein was weakened, the US was literally at war and Iraq had no nuclear weapons.
