Ducks Men's basketball lost 66-56 to #3 Houston. Surprising it was that close. Houston scored 30 of their points off Duck turnovers. Again Dante did a very good job but Ducks cannot shoot. 3 of 22 from 3, 57% on free throws for the season. Lost another guard during the game and so very short handed because a couple transfer guards also out. . Have been starting two 7 footers in Bittle and Dante and then the 7 foot freshman Ware comes off the bench. Richardson responsible for a lot of the turnovers and not what you hope for from a senior point guard.
I watched a bit of it. Dante is impressive and might have a place in the NBA. Ware looks good but super raw. Bittle is too non existent. They can’t shoot well either. Their zone and length kept them in the game in the 2nd half. Like most Altman coached teams, I expect them to have a strong second half of the season and start clicking come tourney time. Bittle was a very highly regarded recruit, but I don’t see why. So hesitant and passive.
Oregon hosted CB prospect Roderick Pleasant this past weekend. He's also one of the fastest HS sprinters in the country and is interested in doing track as well. He had a great time and seems likely to Go Ducks! but what also caught my eye is him relaying which current verbal commit has been actively recruiting him, hopefully calming some concerns... STOMP
Dante Moore was interviewed this last weekend. During the interview he was asked about the rumors about MSU. He kind of sneeringly laughed about them, shook his head, and then said "Sco Ducks! I'm solid with Oregon". I'll see if I can find it NLI Day on Dec 15 is less than 4 weeks away. He might sign then Oregon might need to worry if Dillingham gets a HC job somewhere, like ASU. Otherwise I don't think so
Two high profile Thanksgiving day verbals are likely to go Oregons way. Texas DE Johnny Bowens and 2024 Pennsylvania WR Tyseer Denmark. STOMP
Does anybody know why the basketball game is delayed tonight. Appears it will be delayed at least 90 minutes and won't start until after 10:30?
Why the Ducks will always be the lame Ducks. The good OC leaves while the horrible DC is still here. I'll give them a mulligan on the Georgia loss....but the UW and OSU losses were bull dada. The only question left is how bad they are going to get humiliated in their meaningless money-grab bowel game.
You do realize it was the “good offensive coach” who called 3 (or was it 4?) straight runs up the middle on that last failed drive against a very good run defense, right?
As far as Coordinators being poached to become HC's elsewhere, thats the way of things for successful programs. Thats also how Lanning came to Oregon. I'm absolutely sure that he'll have many solid options to choose from for their next OC and am just hopeful he chooses wisely. STOMP
I said "good", not "perfect." If you think the 2 co-ordinators were of equal value to the team - I really don't know what to say.
Well, don’t say that since I didn’t. I’m of the opinion that Lanning should look for a new defensive coordinator as well as an offensive one. That said, the Ducks’ season imploded when Bo Nix injured his ankle.
yeah, things changed once Nix running was deleted from the Oregon offense maybe it's the case with a lot of schools, but quite a few very promising seasons for the Ducks have been derailed by a mid-to-late season QB injury: 2005 when Kellen Clemens got injured 2007 when Dennis Dixon got injured 2013 when Marcus Mariota got injured 2015 when Vernon Adams got injured 2017 when Justin Herbert got injured and now 2022 when Nix got injured
Thornton has the physical tools to be great, but he bobbles a lot of his catches. He will need to improve on that. Franklin on the other hand does not drop anything, he just needs to add about 10 lbs IMO. But some of his catches are unreal along the sideline. As of right now....Franklin is way more dependable.
Spot on. Franklin has impressed both the current and previous coaching staffs more then Thornton as evidenced by his earning much bigger roles both years. Best to Dont'e. I hope he's the rare Duck transfer out that goes on to greatness. In the meantime I'm excited about the next wave https://n.rivals.com/content/athletes/jurrion-dickey-262696?view=pv STOMP
