This team is atrocious and has little to no hope of making the playoffs

Totally agree - this goes both ways. So lazy just to blame the organization.

For my money, from what I expected the two biggest "kid" disappointments this season have been Miller and Lafreniere.

Now maybe I had unfair and unrealistic expectations, but I thought Miller would take the next step into stud territory. And Lafreniere would be a 25/60 player at least. I have been off on both counts so far.

Kakko I didn't feel the same way about, as I have just not seen a lot from him to expect this big step forward, so my expectations were tempered.

I love statistical discussions 31, I wanted to look a little deeper at the players first 2 seasons in addition to their time on ice to see if what I've suspected is true. You make a good point about the ice time but when you look at the difference in production, specifically SOG you can see why they earned more ice time and why at the end of a game GG may be hesitant to play guys who can't generate offense.

    Lafreniere 135 games/177 SOG/31 G/18 A
    Kakko - 114 games/190 SOG/19 G/21 A
    Hughes - 117 games/265 SOG/44 G/64 A
    Cozens 120 games/222 SOG/17 G/34 A
    Zegras - 99 games/234 SOG/26 G/48 A
    Dach (CHI) - 82 games/127 SOG/10 G/23 A

Your philosophy is don’t ever blame the organization for doing fucking retarded shit. That's how you go over 80 years with one cup. It's amazing how for over 10 years on this board it's never the coaches fault. Never the organizations fault. It's always the young players fault as to why they aren't doing better. Laughable. 31 and I have provided such obvious, factual evidence as to how they are fucking up Lafreniere and Kakko. Yet, you simply act like learning impaired students who refuse to acknowledge any of it. It got old a year ago. Unfortunately, a lot of our fan base falls under the same saying as the Rangers organization. You can't fix stupid.

Last night was another example. Lafreniere got a little over 12 minutes of ice time. Kakko, Chytil and Lafreniere got 43 seconds to 1:10 of PP time. Hughes, Bratt and Hischier got about 4 1/2 minutes of PP time. They played 17 to 20 minutes. You can already see this organizational fuckup coming. They will probably trade Lafreniere and Kakko, they will go to an organization that actually has a clue and put up 80+ points in a year or two and buttfuck this team for over a decade.

As far as Shesterkin. He looks like a parent that isn't getting any sleep with a newborn. He needs to hire a nanny, let her and his wife take care of the kid and get his head out of his ass.

Your comments are fascinating sometimes. The only one who I see speaking in absolutes is you. It is on the organization and specifically, on the organization because they won't give Kakko and Lafreniere PP1 time - if only they gave them PP1 time.

I have written numerous times I believe it is a two-way street. Organization and players both have responsibility for how Kakko and Lafreniere have not developed thus far. Others have written the same.

So please don't make statements like you never blame the organization. It takes two to tango

I like the direction the organization is going. Who wouldn't after last years playoff run? Your problem is you judge players emotionally so when you see a young prospect's picture and you feel a tingle up your leg you defend that prospect vociferously like a travel ball parent. I think if you look at my post regarding 31's playing time for #1s and find a friend who is good at math you'll see a startling difference in production.

And they'd probably have to trade them at a discount too because they have underachieved for their draft position so we won't be getting full value for a player picked that high up. Since this is already their 3rd and 4th full seasons, we're not far from people starting to throw out the "bust" word, which would only decrease trade value.

It's all very unfortunate because the window to win is not very long given our age and contract situation with many of our key players and we have not maximized our potential to win during that window.

Yes, there is a level of responsibility that falls on the players, but Alexis and Kaapo are players who should have been put in top-line situations early on and now in their 3rd and 4th seasons they still haven't.

No one is here saying "why isn't Cuylle getting 18-20 minutes a game". You don't draft a player #1 or #2 in a draft hoping he'll become a serviceable 3rd line player. You do because you think he'll be a cornerstone of your team for many years to come and you need to play the heck out of them and live through their mistakes so that hopefully they reach the potential that made you draft them in that position in the first place. That is the difference and the frustration with how Lafreniere and Kakko have been handled by us vs how other highly drafted players like the ones i noted have by their respective teams. They are reaping the benefits while we still have no idea why kind of players they'll become.

Yep. There has been close to zero commitment from the organization with Lafreniere and Kakko. Pathetic. If they were played the way all these organizations play top picks and the produced like this then it’s on them. That is not the case. Also, if our even strength offense will suck, might as well hire Trots and have somebody teach them defense.

You can play them more but the team has major issues. They didn't blow a 3-0 lead in the third to Edmonton and quickly squander a 2-0 lead last night because of that. This club unlike last year cannot hold onto a lead.

The Rangers went the route of once again half rebuilding with many veterans. It's always the same story. Now they're in the same mess as years prior.

Yep. What makes it harder is the dumbasses keep giving out NMC's like candy to players who want to play here and aren't young, franchise, cornerstone pieces. Moronic.

It is an interesting balance. Do you give Kakko/Lafreniere 2 or 3 more mpg - and then do you play guys like Kreider and Z and Panarin less?

Let's be real - the letter went out and we dealt vets, but in NYC this was never going to be a multi years rebuild, plus we were always going to sign a top star or two to play on the brightest stage, and lastly - and this is a big one - we jumped up to get Kakko and Lafreniere. We were never bad enough to finish # 1 or # 2 worst team, so you couldn't really plan to hold spots for you picks like these two. The Lafreniere pick was a gift for us based on Covid.

I understand the tough spot that puts everyone in. Vets, try and win, play less of vets, play a few more minutes of Kakko and Lafreniere. Not easy decisions to make, despite us trying to make it seem like they are on a message board.

At days end, they could have been given more opportunity, but in the 14-16 mpg they have gotten they have not really played to the level of # 1 and # 2 picks where you have to play them over proven vets on a team that is trying to win. Tough spot for all.

I have never been a Miller fan. He reminds me way too much of road cone Staal. Great size but has no idea how to use it so he just tries to poke check and is out of position too much. Trouba is a shitty choice of a captain as he alone can take the blame for the collapse beginning in the playoffs last year by taking stupid penalties. He’s slow and if he isn’t checking someone he is out of position because he was trying to check someone. The rest of our defenseman are NOT great at all. Igor bailed out this team over and over again last year and instead of focusing on making sure our blue line could protect Igor and not allow shots from dangerous areas we once again went out and signed trash ass vets who shouldn’t even be in the NHL, let alone on a team that had Cup aspirations.

It’s the typical James Dolan touch. Whenever a franchise starts to do good, his fucking retarded ass steps in and fucks it all up. We really need a taxi driver to take him out. Give it 5-6 years and we will be once again issuing a letter about a rebuild. We were ahead of schedule last year. Just build on that success with some minor improvements. Instead we let go Vatrano who was CRUCIAL to this team as he was an actual shooter, not another playmaker which this team has too many of. We can sit here and yell about how Kakko and Laf aren’t taking the next step and blame whomever, but when you’re a young impressionable player and you see the likes of Panarin getting a huge payday, yet doing no dirty work, not driving the net, not shooting, circling back constantly with the puck and looking disinterested in shooting the puck but suffering no loss of ice time then of course our young guys are going to go that route as opposed to being more physical and getting to the net and shooting the puck. This team MUST trade Panarin. I don’t care if it’s for a bag of used pucks, he has to go. He provides absolutely nothing positive for this team.

Other 1/2 overall picks not named McDavid would be making more of a difference than these two, even without pp time. If you need pp time to put up 80% of your points you probably aren't more than a 3rd liner talent-wise to begin with. Granted, Chytil isn't a great C or anything but still..

I wanted them to keep Vatrano and Motte. Motte against a speed team like NJ would be a big plus. Strange after a long run but I started to dislike this team in the pre-season. Didn't feel right. Coach screwing over the two kids again. Sucking off the vets. Fourth line losing Motte. Up front losing Vatrano. I said the same thing. One of the true shooters on the team. Vatrano is not fitting in on the Ducks as I thought he wouldn't. They could easily send Kravtsov, Vesey and Jones the other way to even some of the money out and bring him back. Drury needs to admit his mistake and bring him back.

You are 100% completely full of shit. Everything you just said is bullshit. The facts easily prove you wrong. Go look at the top scorers. See what the PP does. 31 already educated you and like I said before. You and other fans are learning impaired. You don't listen to facts. Go check the even strength points of the 2 kids compared to Zibanejad, Panarin and Kreider. Lafreniere had 19 even strength goals last season. Zibanejad had 14. Panarin had 17. Strome had 16. You just don't want to listen to facts. You don't see what every other team is doing to develop young forwards. You just make excuses for this dumb fuck organization.

Alot of other teams weren't playoff ready like the Rangers when they won those lotteries. Were they instantly going to be put ahead of Panarin and Zib coming off big seasons just because of where they were picked? No team would do that, and if anything they had less pressure coming in because of it which most high picks don't. The Rangers have had one of the best pp the last few years so there was no reason to have 13 or 24 there. Maybe now is the time to make a change with it and try something different given the poor start who knows. They've gotten ample time on.pp2 and haven't really done jack with it.

This year was supposed to be last year and last year was supposed to be this year.
