Japan up 2-1 on Spain now. Crazy.

And CR even with Germany. If they can win that game, they could actually eliminate Spain, despite being beaten by them 7-0 in their opener.

I'm so confused by that 2nd Japan goal....OUT OF BOUNDS! And they even reviewed it for 10 minutes. HOLY SHIT!

Wondering if Spain threw that game to get a more favorable matchup in the first round (and eliminate Germany).

Their bball team certainly does this kinda shit. Wouldn't surprise me if their football team did too

If the video review team was ALL Germans, I’d say you have a point.

I think the entire ball has to be across the line. Not just the part that is touching the playing surface.

If that was the goal line, thats a goal if I'm not mistaken. What a weird rule.

Uruguay appears to be taking care of business this morning, but as we know, things can turn on a dime. If SK does to Portugal (who gain nothing by not losing today) what Japan did to Spain yesterday, then Uruguay will need to win by at least 3 in order to advance.

Actually it's the same rule for the goal line. I think you go with the call on the field as there is not evidence on video to overturn it.

did some digging. if you draw a straight plane from the line and any portion of the ball (curved area, not just the part that is touching the ground) is across that hypothetical plane, it is considered inbounds. go figure.

Man, I didn’t expect them to win, tough game. Maybe after playing together for 4 more years, this young squad will come back stronger.

Sorry Yanks, you gave it your all.

Can't really feel too good, because Leeds did everything in their power to sign Cody Gakpo this past transfer window, and apparently were "99.9%" there when PSV Eindhoven backed out unexpectedly. Now his price has gone through the roof and he'll never be a Leeds player.
