It is easy to self-identify with a sports team. Not easy to take losses or hear a negative view. Human nature; tribal or pack mentality. I am super pessimistic by nature then my hopes get up and it is cloud 9 followed by a crash. Not healthy tbh. Anger.

I do think it is hard to transistion from Dame era Blazers to the next era. It is enevitable but not easy to create the roster. Trade Ant, Nurk, etc. I havent found a good team for Dame and he may just want to stay on for the rest of his deal. Get the pick back from CHI maybe?? They are desparate for talent IMHO. Zach is not working out as a franchise player.

    Aww Come on bro.

    See this picture:

We were winning before injuries started happening, and then we still won at first, but guys like Winslow cant play 40 minutes a night. We wore out our bench. Let us get healthy and see where we are at.

I suppose the key is will we ever get healthy?

it's not the prediction that gets you "killed"

it's incessantly repeating your prediction and the constant "I told you so" moments like you're in some kind of grudge match. That coupled with promoting your unbridled fandom of Lebron and Zion, the Lakers and the Pelicans (I've noticed you've backed off on the Minny praise...or maybe that was Aldo; hard to keep track which particular fanboy is fanboying in which direction)

but lately, as Portland has struggled thru injuries and the NBA's toughest schedule, the way you and some of the 'trade-Dame-Blazers-suck' nega-posters seem to be reveling in Blazer losses is certain to rankle a lot of posters. It's a Blazer forum after all and a loud choir of smug ' Ha-Ha-Blazers-Suck' is guaranteed to get push-back

and of course, certain posters were predictably quiet over the first 15 games but have showed up with dozens of negative posts in the last 2 weeks....

Brother I grew up a fan of the NBA as much as a Blazer fan. I posted once about how talented I thought the Wolves were. And I don’t come on here and type I told you so. Just because I don’t think our blazers are going to the western conference finals every year….c’mon. The asshats who had us winning 55 games are the ones that should be getting killed on here. They’re the ones that make this place miserable with their constant complaining. As if we should win every one of these games.

Lol, it's upside down world. We're all Blazers diehards here, no one is rooting for them to suck. Many with perspective would like our discussions on the board to be reality based so threads like this are flat ridiculous. Do you really think asking if The Blazers are the Best Team in the West? is a remotely legitimate discussion to have & isn't going way way over the skis? Good grief man, and then you lash out with the insults when reality sets in... smh. This roster sucked, now with some reshuffling and the addition of Grant it's mediocre to good if everyone's healthy. If the goal is for the team to win and not primarily to be a fanboy of a player, then this roster is obviously still a work in progress.

Often, when a question is asked on the internet, you never get a satisfactory answer. It's kind of refreshing that this particular question has been so decisively answered.

look HCP, I may have been a little too antagonistic with that post. And for sure, my homerism is probably coloring my perspective. That post was IMO all the way

but for damn sure, people have reached conclusions about this team and I think conclusions are way premature. Last season was a mulligan. Blazers finally fired the long time GM and started to dismantle his idiot mess of a roster. And they were deliberately tanking at the same time. Nothing was established and of course, a dismantle/remodel isn't going to be done in half a year. There's almost no 'proof of concept' yet

so we are only 1/4 of the way into the actual 1st season of the new roster and the combination of injuries and brutal schedule have had Portland buried. We do not really know what the team is capable of, and what it will look like a year from now

Which is why I was blown away at people thinking we would get HCA in the playoffs.

lol at everyone freaking out. Our team has been decimated with injuries. Every team missing their best player would be dealing with the same struggles.

I wasn't playing that close attention to it, but how many people here were actually predicting HCA? 2? 3?...out of what...100 posters? Is it really surprising that in a forum with as many posters as there are there will be some extreme predictions?

I can't remember if I made a prediction. I think maybe yes and that it was somewhere in the 43-45 win area with the 6th seed as the likely ceiling

But I know for certain that after a decade of olshey-vision I was just thankful that clown was gone. Blazers gave olshey 10 years to get it right. Cronin ought to get 2 or 3

If someone predicted the team would be mediocre with a fully healthy roster, sorry, your prediction has not been fulfilled.

No someone predicted this team would be mediocre because of the lack of talent on the roster. Was there a thread where you would make predictions if the team stays fully healthy? I missed that one bro.

This team was never a contender. Not now, not for the passed decade. The powers that be have been stuck in this smallish, scoring, little defense guard duo as being the foundation of the team and it is just a net negative from the start. That is not to say that Dame/CJ/Ant aren't very talented players. It's that their weaknesses are multiplied while their strengths are muted because they can't be their best when they are sharing time with any of the other.

Grant is a nice addition and more of that type of player is needed, but as of now, it's not enough.

Winslow is a ball dominant guard who can’t play D? He’s been a starting guard most of the season and during all the recent losses. Can’t blame Dame for those

We’ve been losing all these games with a big guard in Winslow.
