Is Russell Wilson still a big name in all of this?

Why do you think people are talking about Wilsonville?

I seriously doubt Portland would support a baseball team. It's the 21st century and we don't even have a Triple A team.
Too much going on in the summer around here for baseball to sell. Just my opinion

Summer is why I think baseball would sell. Portland is amazing during the summer. I hate baseball but going to MLB games is a great scene.

MLB expansion: Portland continues to build buzz for baseball around town

Not sure if this has been shared in this thread or not. Also not sure if this really changes anything.

I'm not a huge baseball fan but I did use to enjoy going to Beavers games at the Civic on a summer day. Cold beer and a hot dog at the ballpark on a nice sunny day was just fun.

Yep. Lots of baseball games at civic. Man you could get a $5 ticket for the upper bowl and then just move down and no one would care. Loved having the AAA team here. It was awesome in my 20s.

Then they had to bring soccer. Been to one soccer game. It was fun but couldn't tell you anything about the game. It's weird going to a sporting event and not giving one rip about the actual game lol.

Anyone else remember the old dude in the late-80’s and 90’s that would have a few beers and walk back-and-forth on the concourse between the lower and upper levels screaming “Let’s go Beavers!”?

I can’t be the only one. He was at EVERY game I went to.

He always had a bright-colored Beavers shirt on. I was also pretty young at the time, but we eventually figured what he was all about.

I think you are talking about Joe (I forget his last name)? He was a player on the original PCL Beavers. He used to go to all the Portland Mavericks games as well. Older guy that usually had buttons and stuff on as well as an old Beavers cap.

That's too much like logic so we shouldn't ever expect government to use the common sense that we use every day.

Why would you ever expect government to bring in the right people? No, they bring in LOBBYISTS like the Portland Business Alliance who advocate for spending money on sweeps and police action instead of housing people.

Right now, as we speak, we spend about $40K per year in services for every unhoused citizen.

That money could pay for actual housing... Common sense.

They need to change the title of that article to "Other major cities have lapped Portland in MLB expansion race"
