to his credit, he finally changed the coverage against embiid but it was too late.

this has been my biggest gripe with chauncey. love his vision of what the team should be and the big picture stuff. and also love his propensity to change up stuff that doesn't work.

but he is glacially slow at making adjustments to counter. or even to deal with other team's counters. this is past the point of growing pains. as i said earlier in the thread before it got derailed by a stotts fan, chauncey has now coached for almost 130 games. he needs to have this stuff down now, or else he's gonna be another steve nash.

i kinda think he needs to either be an assistant or elevate himself into personnel decision roles. not sure he's ready to be head coach yet.

Watching us play Jokic and Embiid B2B just highlights how amazing Jokic is. Embiid is a great player, but Jokic is definitely a level higher. Jokic can do it all offensively. Embiid by far the better defender though.

I hear what you're saying, but I think you grossly over-estimate the ability and the frequency major in-game adjustments are made in the NBA.

im not referring to major adjustments. im talking basic, and at times obvious ones.

Game was over in the first 6 minutes. The rest of the game was just playing out the clock, even though they closed the gap a bit.
Complete waste of an evening, effort (what there was of it), fan dollars, and wear and tear on the players.

Maybe what is basic and obvious to you isn't the case for the players/coaches. Or it's not as simple as you think.

I don't think CJ... sorry I mean Ant is dogshit. I think he's a really solid starter in this league if he's the smallest guy in that starting lineup. He hits the three at a really good rate. He has a ton of shots in his arsenal and he has a reliable handle. He is asked to play out of position a little too much on D and he just doesn't fit on either end of the floor with Dame. We should definitely trade him but he's a solid player. All we should expect in return is a solid player but it should be a guy that improves this team due to fit.

I sure wish Nurkic would have put up more of a fight against the two of them, and had a bigger impact. They outscored him 68-10; average of 34-5. And yeah, I understand that some of those points came against Eubanks. Blazers just needed a lot more offense from Nurkic...and a lot more BBIQ too

do you think this team was ready to play tonight? how about in denver?

i made the comment early in the game that it felt like we didn't even scout Philly with the kinda game we were playing on both ends. it was obvious to anyone who has seen the sixers play that we should speed up tempo tonight. yet we came out running sets that took ages, while sitting in drop against Harden P&Rs.

similar story in denver when we decided for some bizarre reason to speed up the game against an opponent who kills people nightly by getting out in transition.

the seemingly lack of preparation is a bad sign. but if he's coaching and the players aren't listening-- that's even worse. the players played like a team trying to get its coach fired in the first half.

I don't think Nurk is terrible either. I think he has a skill set that could be very valuable on a lot of teams... he just only chooses to use it half of the time. I think there has to be coaches out there that think they could get Nurk to keep the ball up high on paint touches, finish strong in the restricted area and dominate the paint defensively. Now they can also expect him to hit open threes but they definitely shouldn't look at him as a floor spreading big, just one that can keep defenses honest.

Chauncey wants him defending the P&R up at the level, he wants him blitzing, he wants him to switch and defend in space and that erases the best part of his game which is to deter guys from getting easy looks at the rim.
