I don't believe that assertion by Haynes. It was pretty damn vague and based upon rumors he heard 6 months ago. Now, I can't tell if I don't believe it because I have good reason, or I just don't want to believe it because it would be olshey 2.0
Watching Dame and Chauncey's pressers last night, I really think that was either a bullshit speculative report or a legit smokescreen or maybe that's wishful thinking on my part but between Dame's reaction and what Chauncey was absolutely saying but refusing to say. It's fair to expect a major shakeup.
Yeah I really doubt anyone on the roster is untouchable with Joe, that's such a bullshit Olshey thing to say and I don't think Joe would ever paint himself into a corner by taking things off the table with other GMs privately or publicly. I just don't know if he'll take good returns for our guys, if he'll have unrealistic expectations that leave us with this mess of a roster or if he'll take pennies on the dollar just so the roster makes sense but leaves us even more talent poor.
I posted this in the AD thread but also though it belonged in here. Would this piss people off? I think I'd be excited. If AD passed a rigorous physical, this would be pretty cool. I'd take the gamble on his health. I realize we would be up against the tax and have to pick up another player just to have the roster minimum but just on it's own would people be cool with this or hate it?
this would be amazing but the lakers would demand sharpe and multiple first rounders attached to it. Nurk is a negative contract and simons has far less value than AD, who’s still only 29.
See, I don't think Nurk has negative value... if he was being paid like Ant he would. I wasn't sure if the Lakers would do this but I don't think it's outrageous to think they might. They get two quality starters that are better than anyone else they have on that roster including Rui, besides the guy they're shipping out and LBJ. And while AD is still only 29, Nurk is a little younger and Ant is way younger. I guess if you think Nurk actually has negative value around the league we're just at an impasse. The dude is frustrating as hell but if you are willing to just see him as a paint presence on D, he is a fucking excellent defender in that role, then if you think you could get through to him and make him stop fucking around on O, he's a real weapon there too. If Chauncey wasn't our coach I would be cool with keeping Nurk but Chauncey is putting Nurk in positions to fail as a defender when he can dominate the game as a defender when played the right way and Chauncey hasn't found a way to make him stop going up weak, bringing the ball down and turning it over and fucking around in other ways on offense. To me with the right coach and the right backup who can play if smaller lineups are hurting you and you aren't punishing them... Nurk is very very valuable
Lakers fans would want that and I could see the Lakers demanding a FRP or even two but they aren't delusional enough to think that AD who you never know if he's going to be able to play is worth that much more than a 23 year old who has already shown the things Ant has (remember they have hardly any perimeter scoring) and a better true C than LeBron has ever played with... even better than Big Z.
Hell no. Josh is a LOT more valuable than Rui. Besides, now that Rui is on the Lakers, they can't aggregate his salary (for 3 months) - so this can't be done under the CBA.
How on earth would this piss people off? It would be an incredible get! Lakers would never do it. They don’t love our players as much as we do.
Yeah, I really don't know what the value of our players is in NBA front offices. I just know that Nurk is a force and I hear the national media echo that with the qualifier of "in the right system". I also know that the national media thinks Ant is a really good bucket getter who still has a high upside and they say that bucket getters always have a ton of value (I mean we see the value that CJ is bringing to NOLA when he's not having to play with another ball dominant small guard). So what I'm saying is I think if the Lakers put LeBron and Rui with AD they would be worse than if they put them with Ant and Nurk. The only reason I want Nurk gone is because Chauncey's defense has taken the most valuable aspect of his game away. He's a paint filler and probably the best in the league at that on the defensive end but putting the guy out in space is making him look like an average defender to a defensive liability while he's actually elite when payed correctly. The offensive stuff with Nurk is what it's always been but I've always thought and my friends who are fans of other clubs have thought and still think that the right coach could make Nurk stop the bullshit. I'm not a homer and all but one of my friends that follows the game are fans of other teams and they all think that Nurk is a high level starter in the right situation and that Ant is a future all star if he's given the right opportunities as the smallest guard in a starting lineup. If I was a Vulcan (not the guys that own our team) I would fire Chauncey for being inflexible and would have traded Dame but I like both guys and think we can win at the highest level by keeping both but moving guys I would have kept otherwise. I would love to keep Nurk but not with Chauncey coaching him. I would love to keep Ant but not with Dame playing next to him. Dame should get 32+ minutes a night at this point in his career and so should Ant and that's too much overlap for me to think we're getting the most possible out of Ant or Dame. So yeah, my friends don't love these two guys the way that I do but they do value them the same as I do. Some think I'm a little high on Nurk but others don't. Almost all of them think I'm low on Ant because I see him as a good third option on a championship team and they seem to think he could be the second best offensive weapon on a championship team.
according to a "good source" @spurstalk Portland interested in Jak. Fwiw the same source called the murray deal with atlanta. What would you think of Poetl?
