Really? Hey, let's put Simons on Scottie Barnes and take Grant out of the defensive picture. Great idea Chauncey!
The Blazers try their best to hide Simon's's terrible defense. Lillard is small and can't guard anyone with size and/or muscles. Putting Jerami in the top center of the defense can have him peel back and provide at least some help to the middle of the court.
Can anyone guess what #5 on the Raptors did during this play? If you guessed dunked the ball, you are correct
The reason this happens is because we concede the switch on all pick and rolls involving our guards. That's a coaching decision.
actually I think Dame is pretty good guarding size and muscles as long as it isn't an 8 inch or 40 pound mismatch....which Chauncey has opted for a few times this season
Agreed. Dame does quite well for himself in the post when it turns into a 'strength' issue. Where he gets blown by is out on the perimeter. Nas actually requested to be put out top to try to slow down the initial break down of the defense. They went to a zone and tried to hide Ant/Dame in the corners. We actually did something very similar in college and incorporated the same in city league games after college. We put one of our better/longer defenders out top to negate the initial breakdown of a quick guard. It worked quite well. Then again, it could be humorously argued that we had better defenders in the corners than Ant/Dame.
