I think the weakness is he looks like he’s walking around on a couple of number 2 pencils. After Chet getting hurt(similar body type) my concern is health. Can you imagine if we won the lottery and the big man curse hit again.
I agree, VW is not an option for Portland, but we still need to tank. We are not winning a damn thing this year, so ASSETS are the main goal of this season and the highest pick in the draft possible is what we need.
If they lucked into the #2 pick, the overwhelming consensus is PG Scoot Henderson. Since I feel they need to add talent, I'd have no issue with them drafting the BPA even at a position they're deep at and then balancing the roster with trades. I'm pretty much always for drafting for talent over need STOMP
As I said earlier, just about every player in the first round other than the top 2 is a wing, which kind of sucks for us. I guess if I had to choose right now, Jarace Walker sounds like a healthy Justise Winslow type, in that he can play PF and plays good defense.
One thing's for sure: as long as we're tanking, Chauncey's job is safe. I don't think I'll be happy if he lasts into next season, though.
Hollinger has an article out today about how scouts are not excited about anybody in the draft outside of the top two. The only reason the Blazers would have any interest in maintaining their draft pick this year is so they might be able to trade it.
If we lost 70% of our games left (also plausible because we have a lot of injuries), we have decent odds of having the fifth worst record. I'll take those odds for VW. (I also just bought a VW EV, so I'm even more onboard to land VW)
The math is not your friend. The 5th spot will get you a 10.5% chance of getting the top pick, and around a 55% chance of picking 6-9.
Of course. The current system is designed to give the worst teams decent picks, but not enough certainty that somewhat better teams will be encouraged to tank. In a draft where only the top couple of picks are viewed as can’t miss, throwing away a shot at the playoffs makes minimal sense, especially when your best player is 32 years old.
