Jack O'Loughlin. Last Sunday I actually watched a couple of games at the club where he played his junior baseball. Good to see a local lad do well, inspires the next generation.

Amazing finish to Pool A with all five teams finishing 2-2 for a five way tie. Cuba and Italy advance based on having conceded the least runs per out.

    The wild 5-team tiebreaker, explained

Puerto Rico throws 8 no hit innings against Israel.

5 way tie breaker is awesome.

A 3-4 loss to Cuba means that Australia is out. Australia played well, but Cuba was just too good on the day. Very proud of how we’ve played in this tournament. Plenty of young players who played well and will be at the next one. Definitely some players who will pick up contracts based on their performances.

Dammit, just watched the condensed game.
Aus had their chances for sure but Cuba is a tough out.

No need to hang your head over losing to Cuba...they live and breathe baseball there...always a powerhouse team. Two ways to get to the US from Cuba...one is a raft and the other is a 100mph fastball!

Slightly OT, has anyone watched Brockmire?

Cuba, Japan are perennial WBC powerhouses. Dominican republic looks strong.

USA needs to win against Colombia. Although even with a loss, we still probably have the tiebreaker against Canada. Not sure what the first tiebreaker is (prob h2h)

Puerto Rico is beating the DR right now, winner advances with Venezuela and the loser is out

DR has the best talent, it would be crazy not to advance

I know the WBC is voluntary, but do wish we had a better team, especially in regards to pitching.

We shall see how far we go but that could hurt us.

Wow, hard to believe Columbia beat Mexico then lost to Canada and Great Britain.

That is very unfortunate. After striking out the side in a huge win..

I did not expect a 14-2 shellacking of Cuba. Very impressive showing by the American team. Looking forward to the championship game.

Damn, both Mexico and Japan look like very good, disciplined teams.
Lots of good pitching. Gonna be tough for USA whoever they face.
