I believe that it was the next year 2000 that the Blazers went to the conference finales against the Lakers. After going down 3 games to 1 they came back to earn a game 7. They were ahead by 15 points midway through the 4th quarter and all of a sudden they couldn't buy a bucket and ended up losing by just a few points. It was the most frustrating/heartbreaking final 10 minutes of a Blazers game that I'd ever seen up until and since then.
I drove back and forth between LA and Portland. I was there game 7. Even brought a cake although after that game they probably stomped on it. Sitting in Blazers gear surrounded by Lakers fans. Still get a pain in my heart.
Jesus, haven’t thought of this in at least a decade. Why do you bring this up and remind us? I remember that shot and the Shaq to Kobe alley oop as the most iconic plays in all of soul crushing history.
Even worse, he was on OUR roster that season if I’m not mistaken before we cut him and they picked him up.
