chet holmgren got injured in a stupid match and lost a season (it wasnt with okc or summer league team) injuries can happen anytime, regardless if youre load managing, regardless of how many minutes you play in a game, regardless if its b2b game etc, but i dont want sharpe to play in summer league, we already saw what hes got at this point lets say b-roy goes to summer league, i dont mind sharpe going there to practice and learn from b-roy, but he should not play in a games
Warning, this article can be a trigger for the anti-Roy crowd. https://theathletic.com/4515130/2023/05/12/brandon-roy-blazers-reunion-lottery/ As it could’ve been easily surmised, he found it hard to deal with his career ending so suddenly and so prematurely on the brink of his prime. He didn’t distance himself because he hated the franchise or city like some on here I have foolishly assumed. From the article: “Roy had intentionally distanced himself from the Blazers. There were no hard feelings, no issues, no disagreements. There was just too much pain, too much frustration, too many “why me” moments involved in processing his forced retirement. As a result, in the decade since he left Portland, he had shown his face at a Blazers event once — slipping into a courtside seat in March of 2012 to watch Portland play Milwaukee, a gesture to celebrate the birthday of then-Blazers’ guard Jamal Crawford. “There’s never been a moment when I felt I couldn’t reach out to the Blazers and be a part of the organization. Never,’’ Roy told The Athletic. “I just wanted to stay away from basketball, or from even hearing my name. It was just hard not being able to play … and I was only 28, 29 years old. So, I just stayed away.’’
maybe aim a lot higher: that 82-6 record was before this last season. Roy's team went 25-2 and won another state championship. So, Roy's record is 111-8 with 4 state championships Billups should worry
The only way I want Shae playing in SL is if we get Wemby with our first pick and draft a guy in the second round that is expected to be Dame's backup, let's say Beekman or Sherfield. Then I'd see some value in getting Shae some run with other young guys that he will be getting PT with during the upcoming season. If it's just a bunch of end of the bench guys then I would just have Shae working out with Dame. I'm not going to be mad if he's there though. If the coaching staff wants to work on some things with him in live game action then I don't see why not. There is no difference than there would be scrimmaging at our practice facility.
No one cares but the only Blazer jersey I own is red 7 Brandon Roy. One afternoon I saw Andre Miller at the Adidas employee store (now corporate office) and I asked him to sign it, which he did but he was probably not thrilled, he only scribbled AM, lol. It was just before the playoff series against the Nash-era suns
It's clear what's going on here. The Blazers are going to move to Seattle and will be renamed the Garfield High School Bulldogs. barfo
I don't see Roy interested in the demands of an NBA HC job now. That's why he's stayed at high school instead of college or NBA level. He wants to see all of his son's games now in high school and next in college.
Kind of makes sense him coming back. If he'd never been injured, he'd probably still be retired by now. Easier to live with the loss when you look around at contemporaries from the 2006 draft (Aldridge, Redick, Rondo, Millsap) and they are out of the league. PJ Tucker, Rudy Gay and Kyle Lowry are kind of the last of his class, I think. I wouldn't have predicted those would be the last guys standing.
I wasn't being serious about Roy and the Blazer job but he's coached 4 seasons as a high school head coach. He has a 111-8 record and 4 state championships. There is not much room between that and perfection. He has to have a pretty good level of coaching acumen to accomplish that. That's true even if he's getting lots of transfers
Awesome videos, thanks for sharing! I don't know how someone watches that and is still mad at BRoy. Obviously himself and the organization are on good terms right now if they agreed to this partnership. But some Blazers fans have a bizarre tendency to throw hate at Blazer players.
