One more year in Hartford and he should be ready for the backup role.

Pack beat conference number one seed Providence 1-0 allowing only 14 shots on goal. That's where next years coach should come from.

Garand is 4-0 with a 0.75 GA and a .966 save % in the AHL playoffs. Encouraging to say the least.

Garand with a 32 save shutout after his first shaky playoff start. Rangers are going to get a shit load for this kid if they trade him.

They need to hold onto him because the Rangers will wind up losing Igor when he’s a free agent. Igor isn’t going to waste away his prime years like Hank playing for Drury and the one dimensional players he likes to sign.

I have no doubt Igor walks. I dont think he is as loyal as hank. Hank loved the city and this franchise. Not sure if Igor has the same loyalty. I can also see Igor going back to Russia to finish his career.

Igor will finish his career in NY. The Rangers will just keep building/re-shuffling from year-to-year to be a contending playoff team. He's not up for a few more years, so there will be some big contracts gone and new faces here. It will be the same type of thing they did around HL.

I look at it as that’s exactly why he WONT stick around. He saw how this organization can always get close but never quite there and then they rely on a goalie winning games 1-0, 2-1. That’s so difficult in todays NHL where scoring is up. I want Igor to be here, don’t get me wrong, but if we don’t make the correct moves to get this franchise building towards a Cup, he owes this organization nothing and should rightfully see what else is out there. Imagine having not one but TWO premier goalies back to back for your franchise and not winning once if we don’t build for Igor like we didn’t for Hank?? It would be the epitome of failure.

Thankfully Othmann, Cuylle and Edstrom are the types of players we need on this team come playoff time. Haven't read enough scouting reports on Vierling but there seems to be a lot to like there. I wonder if they give Zac Jones a chance. He's not big but he's also not stupid and our defenseman maybe because Gallant has no system and holds nobody accountable, are stupid. I never figured Jones would get a chance here but the fact they haven't traded him yet is interesting. Maybe they want to use him to move up in the draft.

I wonder if there will be a team that comes in huge for Garand. It's not the Rangers style to trade a goalie prospect before he gets NHL time. I think they give Garand the full time gig next year for the Pack. Give Halak one more year. Try to get him his win total. Then make Garand the backup next season.

Pack up 2-0 early second. Garand 17 saves already.
