...maybe there was more truth to the Spurs insider who gave some interesting insight Nevertheless, seems like the Blazers really dodged a bullet! Wonder if the Soccer Mom Karen's will be shaking with outrage by her conduct? I was just talking about sacrificing some children to the basketball gods in a different thread. I think most of us have moved on to give us a damn championship no matter the price.
My inferrence--all that I can do based on the lack of information provided--is that Hammon basically told a pregnant player that her maternal status would impact her contract negotiation, and that player got mad about it... and then started whining after she got traded.
If the player could reasonably claim pregnancy discrimination she has a point. Bad move if true. Hardly disqualifies Hammon as a coach.
What would disqualify her as a coach? I cant think of any supervisor being found by their organization to have discriminated employees they supervised and then not get fired in the business world.
When my mother was pregnant with me and working at Toys r' Us, the manager once told her "If you are unable to work because of your pregnancy, it may be time to find a new job" or something along those lines. I wish she would have sued, that could have paid for my college or something. This doesn't make Hammon a bad coach, just kind of a piece of shit..
We don't know what happened - funny, those who are so ready to give a man benefit of the doubt are convinced she did wrong. If it was pregnancy discrimination that is probably illegal. Don't know if it was or if she just acted jerky. Neither does anyone else. My beef was those who immediately said Blazers dodged a bullet by not hiring her. Like the team did so great with the person they did hire.
If thats what she inferred, she shouldn't have been suspended imo. Nothing wrong to let a pregnant player know that it could impact her contract negotiations. She was speaking the truth.
