By the time the 23/24 season starts Lillard will be 33 years old Every decision that will be made in this off season MUST consider this Also, his contract is HUGE He didn't take a paycut to preserve cap Time flies and maybe people don't realize that he's already 33. Not everybody is LeBron
Dumb thread. You don't free up cap space if you're still over the cap. He's not 33 already. You even implied this. We have a bunch of threads discussing everything that could "consider this". I actually thought me and you were both Lebron. Thanks for letting me know that not everyone is Lebron. Stop searching for attention.
So at 28 it was cool to tell him how much we loved him and would always be loyal to him. GFO and go kick rocks
So you are saying Dame is old and makes too much money, yet other teams will give us value in a trade for him. I am struggling to come up with that scenario. Can we all agree that only a contender without a good PG would want Dame? I can think of a few teams but none of them have realistic assets that they would be willing to depart with.....and we can count out any good player with a soon-to-be-ending contract because they won't resign on a Dameless Blazer team. That team will not have good draft picks and they will need to give us around 40 million back in matching salaries. I am open to trading Dame if he wants out, but if the only reason is to get out from under his contract and pick up a few draft picks that statistically will not make the team a contender either, then I would rather enjoy watching Dame for the next few years as a Blazers. But I am interested in hearing who you all think we can get for Dame.
The GM is inexperienced and bad, by his own admission (multiple times) in his last presser. The coach is inexperienced and bad by the metric is was hired for - defense. The players are inexperienced, which will mean it will take time. The GM has consistently brought in very young players, so we haven't been "building around Lillard" in any way, shape, or form. I don't think it's a troll thread to state the obvious - trading for 2nd rate vets (or fantasizing about top tier vets) PROBABLY isn't going to get us where we want with an older, super-highly paid vet. The only reason fans are considering it is because of loyalty, not logic... which I'm OK with. GS is at the same crossroads.
I'm in the keep-Dame-until-he-retires-and-beyond camp, and still I fail to see the big controversy in pretty much anything OP said. What's the freakout about? Nothing he said is even false--he got the birthday right and everything. LeBron is a symbol of durability; that's rare! We must consider Dame in all plans. Dame did not take a pay cut. His contract is HUGE. And time does fly, wowee.
I don't think it's unreasonable or controversial to want to trade Dame. Whether we trade Dame or trade the pick, I'm 50/50. I just want to get good value (for Dame or the pick) for the path that we choose.
The veracity of the content is irrelevant. It's the intent of the post. It fancies itself a skilled rabble-rouser, but is in fact a transparent phony.
