Most of the new aspects of the CBA such as the second apron restrictions take effect in July 2024.

Bridges is my favorite out of all them as well but the Nets don't control their own picks so it doesn't matter if they lose. That will only benefit Houston.

If the Nets are acquiring the #3 pick for Bridges IMO they are rebuilding - so they would be fine holding onto Simmons contract next year, and then its an expiring. They'd probably also try to trade away Claxton/Finney Smith/Oneal for picks as well.

If they want to trade Simmons contract for more production from that salary spot then they should keep Bridges - such as trying to acquire a Lillard type star and ship out many of their future picks. They are a bit like Portland in that they have two timelines and could go young and rebuild or go for vets and try to win now this offseason. Not having their own future lotto picks makes it more likely they try to win and keep Bridges IMO.

An article about Browns defense just one playoff series ago against the 6ers

    https://sports.yahoo.com/jaylen-browns-defense-changed-celtics-151005865.html

"Brown routinely picks up Harden in the backcourt and makes him work simply to get over the center stripe. The results? Harden has been limited to one point on 0-for-7 shooting with three turnovers when Brown is the primary defender over the past two games. Harden looked disengaged at times on Friday but Brown helped deliver him to that point. Harden finished 3-of-14 shooting with five turnovers in Game 3. Brown has preserved much of his energy for the defensive end and steadied the Celtics after the team fumbled away a chance to win Game 1 despite Harden’s outburst.

"Man, honestly, it started with Jaylen,” said Malcolm Brogdon. "Jaylen’s picked up Harden, made it difficult on him the last two games and it's really changed the whole series."

Might be a very profitable bet to put money on Portland at 5/1. Lots of reporting that Brown is close with Dame and many of the same chatter as when we got Grant.

Hawks/Bucks/Bulls/Knicks shouldn't have such high odds being in the East - teams with All-NBA players are much more likely to trade across conference.

Warriors don't have the picks, young talent, or salaries to match in a trade.

If Brown isn't traded bet is cancelled and you get your money back.

I don't see Boston dealing Brown unless he demands out. Then they will get the best player possible in return.

They aren't trading Brown for a pick, IMO.

ATL might be the favorite but if Brown says he will not re-sign with them then that becomes mute and now it's Dame's time to recruit him some more to try and seal the deal.

are you sure the "most" is true? All I've read is that teams that are over the 2nd apron right now, and scheduled to be over next season, may be granted an extra year to get under since the new CBA was ratified after this season's trade deadline. But I may have missed some articles

I went and bet on Brown but it only has a $25 limit... so I get $125 profit if he ends up a Blazer. Would put more on this if there was a higher limit though. Betonline is only site I have money on.

    5:1?...so is that a 125 profit or 100?

Well the "most" word I used is vague. There are many aspects of the CBA that will be in effect immediately. I have heard from many sources and podcasts all the 2nd apron restrictions start in July 2024. That is why its expected we will see heightened trade activity over the next year that is the most in NBA history. I don't think we know anything for certain until they post it the actual agreement such as with the 2011 and 2017 CBA. https://nbpa.com/cba

5:1 means you get your bet back plus 5x so $150 total or $125 profit.

If it was 1:1 you get $50 back
    2:1 $75
    3:1 $100
    4:1 $125

Brown to me is the best fit with Grant and Dame you could hope for...Grant starting with Thybulle off the bench gives you some great point of attack defense.

I never understand why so many fans and posters say this. It's like saying I need cash for gas next month so I'd rather have $100 than the $20k of Apple stock your offering..... Well why not just get the stock today then sell it tomorrow?

Picks are the "cash" of the NBA - GM's can keep it, borrow against it, sell it, or immediately in the same trade flip it to a 3rd team for something else they want.

He has a toxic relationship with Boston fans...he's still going to get 200+ million so money is not the biggest draw the guy has....he can choose to be in a better culture for his own mental health.

one thing I read a little earlier was than the new luxury tax line was going to initially jump at a higher rate than the cap. With a jump of the cap from 123M to 134M, the tax was going to jump from 150M to around 162M. So now it may be 165M. meaning the first apron would be 171-172M and the 2nd apron around 183M

the Warriors and Clippers are the only two teams above that threshold

    upload_2023-5-30_13-7-34.png

LOL at the Warriors, and at Steve Ballmer...but I can see why there's a 1 year grace period

He's also an Aaron Goodwin client, so he shares the same representation as Dame.

After the GP2 fiasco and the Dame super duper max, Goodwin owes us a favor.

I swear to god this never actually happens.

Several times over the years I have heard something about us doing a favor for an agent, and I have yet to really see those favors returned.
