?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Especially at ages 18-20. The development that happens at that age every year is massive so I see it as a massive red flag when guys age 19-20 are facing 16 yr olds. I still have nightmares of Shabazz Muhammad.

At first glance, Whitmore looks like a tweener to me. Under 6'6" (barefoot) and only a 6'9 wing span. He does have skills though.

I still don't see it, but I do appreciate you putting in the effort to explain what you see in him. And I know you aren't alone in that. I'll never get contentious over him, because I'm still surface level on most of these kids. Maybe I just have yet to see that vision of him.

Sorry no. When did Trent ever show the kind of burst and finishing ability that Whitmore has? Their games are also nothing alike.

I actually like Ausar better than Amen. I would do that trade all day long.

Whitmore has been said by some of the Big Board creators to be the most athletic player from the college ranks.
Whitmore's height was the same as the Thompson Twins, 6' 5.75" , and he had the same standing reach, 8' 7.5".
The Thompson Twins have a bigger wingspan of 7 feet vs 6' 8.5" .
Whitmore is not only athletic but strong/robust at 235 lbs vs 214-218 lbs for the Twins. Whitmore has no trouble playing through contact, and often uses contact to get past a defender or defenders. That is not a strength of Amen Thompson or Brandon Miller, or even 248 lb. Jarace Walker, who prefers to shoot floaters.
Whitmore isn't good at passing, but did shoot 40% on catch-and-shoot 3-pointers, and he's great at knowing when to cut to the hoop. So there should be no problem playing off the ball.
Whitmore also has the athleticism to be an above-average defender.

It’s gonna be very telling if we don’t bring Scoot and Miller in for a workout.

They will be in. It would be malpractice not to bring them in.

I really do think people need to remember that the Heat are going on a remarkable shooting bender throughout these playoffs (3 games against the Celtics in which they shot over 50% on threes... they had three games ALL SEASON in which they hit the same mark). Sometimes we just simply underestimate the power of hot streaks...

    Here some all Blazer stuff.
"I think whatever they do is going to happen while they’re on the clock. It’s not impossible that they keep the pick and draft somebody while also keeping Dame. I think it’s very unlikely that’s the way it works out."
"If Boston loses the series and decides not to pay Jaylen Brown, I think that’s something they’d look at. Pascal Siakam is kind of a weird fit next to Grant, but talent-wise, I think that’s something they might be interested in if that was a possibility. That type of player is more of what they’re looking at than the other stuff that’s out there."
Expect "around five years, $150 million" for Grant
On Nurkic: They tried moving Nurkic at the deadline, but they didn’t find any deals they liked. When they signed him to that deal last summer, I think the plan was always to eventually move him. Nurkic was the scapegoat for a lot of things, and I think a lot of that was unfair. If you’re a team trying to make noise in the playoffs like Portland is trying to in the last few years of Dame’s prime, I think you need more. He’s basically a league-average starting center. The health stuff is always a concern with him, and conditioning has been a concern with him over the years.
More on Nurk: They shut him down to tank. Klutch allowed them to shut him down to tank with some sort of back end we’ll take care of you (deal). That’s more where that contract came from than them feeling like he was their center of the future. T
(talking about the first year we tanked)

    On Billups:
If you talk to players like Dame and Grant, they all still fully believe in Chauncey. I think he has a lot of work to do. He’s still pretty inexperienced. I do think there will be some changes on his staff. I know you (HoopsHype) reported that David Adkins, their director of player development, isn’t going to be back. I think there are going to be other changes coming. His lead assistant Scott Brooks was in the mix for the Bucks’ job. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up in Houston if James Harden goes back there because they have a relationship from back in the Oklahoma City days.

I think there will be some changes on the staff to maybe bring in some more experienced guys to help Chauncey along… I think the feeling in the organization is they still want to give him a shot with a real competitive roster.

They think Thybulle will be back and that Blazers like Reddish and would try to get him on a deal similar to Little's.

I don't know if they need more experienced guys. Maybe just smarter guys or guys with more energy. Definitely need a different guy to run the defense.

I am one of the dumbest people when it comes to draft prospects, but I knew the second I watched a film of shabazz that he's one of the worst prospects to ever get shine. Don't know what anyone who was touting him was thinking.
