We got the #3 pick. Discuss the possibilities.

?

What are you hoping for with this pick?

  1. Draft Scoot and keep him

    27.6%
  2. Draft Miller and keep him

    28.6%
  3. Draft someone else at 3 and keep him (please specify)

    3.1%
  4. Trade down, but still draft in the lottery

    10.2%
  5. Trade the pick for a starting forward

    30.6%

Yeah, that was interesting. I do disagree with Windy, however, in that if this is a three-player draft (and maybe Amen or someone challenges that down the stretch), I really don't think picks #4 and #5 have that much impact on the value of #3. If you are trading with the Blazers for #3, it's because you want Scoot or Miller in particular.

Heck, even if you wanted Amen/Ausar/Walker/Whitmore/Hendricks/etc., you still might value #3 significantly higher since you are virtually guaranteed to have your pick of the litter there. You might be able to say that for #4, but then you'd need to be VERY confident in how you see picks #2 and #3 going. For instance, if you want Amen and the Hornets pick Miller #2, can you be absolutely certain that the Blazers will pick Scoot (or trade the pick for someone who will select Scoot)? You'd better be sure.

Have they traded away all their future 1sts or do you only value immediately cashable assets? Even with Scoot, they are likely to suck for a while.

    Dame / Scoot
    Shaedon/ Dame/ Demar
    Demar / Thybulle
    Grant / Watford
Allen / MLE (go after Reid)

Wonder if that's enough for Cleveland for Allen, maybe throw in Keon and the seconds we got for GP2weeks.

Probably close for Allen if the Cavs decided to move on, there's concerns about spacing of him paired with Mobley. I'd suspect they aren't ready to move Allen yet though.

Technically your correct, Chicago probably has a first worth more than our debt to them. They don't have much draft equity available with so many of theirs owed, and it would be very contingent. All of that together with our pick and DeRozen isn't close to #3 value though. Their franchise is really in a terrible position.

Agreed on both fronts. I think Scoot is going to be good, but my guess is Dame would wipe the floor with him in a 1:1 matchup today. The difference between 33 year old all-NBA vet and a guy who hasn't played a regular season minute is going to be significant.

I wonder if the Celtics wants Zach LaVine. Jaylen Brown could get his own team in Chicago if that’s what he wants in some kind of a three team trade with Portland?

Although, Chicago owes a 2025 pick to S.A., so they couldn't send a pick here.

I'm growing more and more convinced that the "Dame pressuring for vets" narrative the national media keeps repeating is based upon what he said 2 months ago...an echo chamber effect...rather than what anybody has heard on the down-low since the lottery. If Dame was determined that Portland had to trade the pick, "or else" he wouldn't be showing up at workouts or ridiculing the idea of being traded to the Lakers

Maybe we need an “All Things DeMar DeRozan” thread?

If LaVine is in Boston and Brown is in Chicago how is it a 3 team trade?

    Good to hear if true.

Funny how they word it if Scoot or Miller falls..... Ummmm one of them has to fall. I guess only other scenario is Amen at 2 or something and Blazers get their choice.

My guess is your partially right. But guys like Windhorst are very plugged in all around the league. So he might also be hearing about Portland discussing trades for #3 which I suspect the Blazers are discussing more than is normal for the team at #3. Then teams are kind of making assumptions with Lillards prior comments.
