He lost control of his players in game 7 and let them play hero ball. Not convinced of his coaching skills. Not good for Boston in my opinion. I predict he will not last out next year or is fired at the end of next year.

so, the Pistons are hiring Monty Williams as head coach and are reportedly signing him for a record 6-year/78.5M deal. More than 13M/year. With incentives it could reach as high as 16M in a year

talk about getting fired then landing on your feet!

I like Udoka but he get's fired for cheating with a fellow employee and then get's a better deal or at least as good as the one he got from the Celtics. I have no problem giving him another chance but I think this sends a bad message that doing something bad really has no punishment accept maybe forced time off.

Kind of seems like a slap on the wrist for sure. You can bet if it happens again it won't be so simple. In that light you can bet he will not make the same mistake again.

Good for Monty, just a great guy.

I wonder if this means the Pistons try to move the #5 pick for more win now vets? Windy mentioned them as having the pick available in trade talks.

Yeah don't necessarily disagree with your post.

But its pretty standard in these situations, same in other industries if your one of the best 30 people in the world your getting another chance at a different organization.

Celtics really had no option just from a legal liability perspective they had to fire him regardless of how much they cared or didn't care. Employee could probably sue the crap out of them if they didn't fire him.

Had heard some crazy shit about Coach Mazulla. That he has these crazy half court games with the staff on game days, home and road. Heard the games would get wild and out of control like rat ball up at the local park.
Well when we played at Boston this year…..I saw it first hand. Could NOT believe my eyes. He had two coaches go down with ankle injuries just while I was there watching with one of our staff. Our guy said he had also heard of this going on and was blown away.

Ex-Celtics coach Ime Udoka is apparently getting the gang back together for his new chapter with the Rockets.

Introduced as the Rockets’ new head coach back in April following his suspension and eventual dismissal from his post in Boston, Udoka’s staff in Houston will come with at least three subtractions from Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla’s support staff with the Celtics, according to a report from the Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn.
“What will be a must if Mazzulla is retained is a more experienced coaching staff,” Washburn wrote. “According to an NBA source, assistants Ben Sullivan, Aaron Miles, and Mike Moser are expected to join Ime Udoka’s staff in Houston, leaving three or more openings on Mazzulla’s staff.”

That will make it a five-assistant exodus for the Celtics since the conclusion of the 2022 NBA Playoffs, with Celtics assistant Will Hardy departing for a head coaching job with the Jazz last summer while top assistant Damon Stoudamire left the club for a head coaching gig with Georgia Tech during the 2022-23 season.

Pistons and Magic are gonna be really fun teams to watch. Loaded with top young guys that bring it. Excited to see what Monty will do for that group.

Phoenix, Sacramento, Memphis, and Denver were young teams like this years ago then made the jump to legit winning playoff teams. Orlando is much closer than Detroit. Will they make that jump? Hard to know, there are many young teams that never do it or have bad management trying to rush things.
