?...I guess it depends on the organization and directions. Yeah, Teams will be coy in what their wanting & willing to do. It could also be a mix of veteran players & picks.
lol....expect the unexpected. Giannis agree, Embiid? If Sharpe is included (which I wouldn't he would be) that would be interesting in what could be done.
The fact is they both shoot like shit; good form or not. They're both laying bricks. There's tons of players in the NBA with great form and can't shoot. Some of the best players have less-than-optimal form and are great shooters. I don't care how it looks. I care about the result. So the question is, who would I rather have laying bricks? The guy that has elite size, athleticism, and is already a good defender... Or the guy that is a short, no-defense guard? Not to mention that *IF* they BOTH get their shot figured out, Amen Thompson has a much, much, much higher ceiling due to his physical gifts. Frankly, I wouldn't bank on either of them figuring out how to shoot; thus why I favor Miller and to a lesser extent Whitmore. But my larger point is: I'm curious why people are so willing to draft Scoot when they both have the same major flaw, but the other has every other advantage and actually plays defense? Is it simply Scoot's shot looks better so people think he's more likely to get his percentages up? And they don't care about a shitty defensive guard (again)?
I'd say Scoot has a huge wingspan so he has defensive potential. Marcus Smart was DPOY. Scoot shoots better free throws - his 3's were such a small sample size. Amen looks closer to MKG than decent form. Yes I think the form is a real thing - if Scoot looked like Amen shooting and Amen like Scoot I think many would change their preference. Scoot just has a drive, maturity, confidence and it factor. Amen has a lot of upside but its just hard to judge with him playing against poor competition. In that regard he's just way more risky.
Everyone talks about his "defensive" potential, but my uncle could potentially be my aunt if he chopped off his dick, so I don't care about potential. Someone posted this: Vecenie said Scoot doesn't try defensively (or something similar). And another guy said he had the worst defensive rating in the G league (in this thread). I'm sure I could find more, but I've seen enough to know he's not even a decent defender right now.
Marcus Smart is pretty much known for being a great defender and had already proven it, that isn't Scoot. Scoot has "potential", which doesn't mean much to me. But thanks for answering the question; I can somewhat understand if that is how people feel.
That was incorrect. He was getting those stats from Basketball-Reference and they don't match what was on the actual G League website.
I haven't been able to find any comparative advanced stats at the G-Leagu website. I'd be curious to see some RealGM says Scoot ranks 338 out of 382 in def rating with a mark of 123.9 https://basketball.realgm.com/dleag...Stats/Qualified/drtg/All/asc/4/Regular_Season a wide discrepancy between g-league, bbref, and RealGm. The g-league numbers are the kindest never mind! I did find the comparison at the G-league site....Scoot ranked 425th out of 472 https://stats.gleague.nba.com/players/defense/?sort=DEF_RATING&dir=-1 obviously, d-rating is more of a team stat than individual stat. But it's pretty clear Scoot doesn't know defense
Buddy, I’m lazy, so I’m not gonna do the “sources” thing but anyone who has watched the guy knows he makes Anfernee Simons look like Kawhi Leonard. He is a complete ghost on defense. Just Google around.
Apparently not interested in developing or showcasing defensive talent because Scoot allows a layup line to occur
Seems so. I think there's a 100% chance we trade Scoot's rights. Either for a vet or back to get Amen.
"I will not negotiate" is a classic negotiation tactic. Forces the other side to come in with better offers.
Teams like the Ignite are co-marketing certain players as a way to sell the G league option to youngsters. They hype guys like Scoot and last year they had Daniels hyped as well.
There's a difference between playing poor defense and only being able to play poor defense. Scoot has the athleticism to be a good defender on both guard positions. This video should be cued to 17:08.
